Job Description

Our client, a leading manufacturing and distribution of FMCG products internationally and locally is looking for a dynamic individual for the position of a General Manager (Sales and Distribution) to help with their operations in Ghana.

Role Profile

The Successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the profit goals of the business by effectively planning, directing and coordinating all Sales and Distribution outlets and channels to deliver the businesses strategic plan.

Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a distribution network, sales and specialist team that are positioned both in structure and function to increase sales, market share and revenue and thereby achieve significant growth in line with the Strategic Plan.
  • You will ensure that all operational processes and sales directed activity is consistent across all business channels
  • Structure and organize the Sales and Distribution network so that necessary resources are allocated and organised to deliver outcomes
  • Develop, execute and drive the business strategic and tactical Sales and Distribution plans.
  • You will ensure operational processes, resources across all channels are aligned to support sales expectations and goals.
  • Conduct regular meeting with distributors and sales team to discuss target status, product training and sales strategy
  • Update management on business process and operating plan and financial model and profitability
  • Coordinate, prepare and launch new products for the assigned market(s) with operation of the respective sales department.
  • Responsible for revenue generation across products and regions and ensure yields across products through Regional Managers and Marketing Managers
  • Monitor and analyse all marketing and sales reports received from regional office and also distributor feedback
  • Strategize and plan the sales process management, forecasting, pricing, key account management, expenses, profitability, new product development, market research and brand strategy
  • Periodically review distributor performance through Regional Managers and check on gaps in performance and seek reasons and actionable steps to close the gaps

Required Skills or Experience

  • MBA in commerce, business, sales, marketing or a related discipline is preferred
  • 8-10 years of marketing experience in FMCG organizations
  • 5 years of Senior Management role overseeing Sales and Distribution within the FMCG industry.

  • Must possess significant understanding of sales principles
  • Must have proven ability at developing and implementing successful sales strategies
  • Effective management of third party agencies, customer relationships and other interested parties.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Flexible and open to changes and able to manage multiple tasks in restricted timeframes
