Job Description

A reputable Insurance Brokerage firm with Ten (10) years in the insurance market, facilitating insurance services in life and non – life products for corporate and individuals clients seeks to employ a Business Development Manager.

Job Summary

  • Responsible for generating new business for the brokerage company
  • Driving ongoing sales and identifying new opportunities for growth.
  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships with existing and potential clients in order to grow profitable portfolio
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and yearly premium targets for new business and renewal of existing businesses and manage growth
  • Develop and effectively manage relationships with existing and potential clients in order to satisfy their needs
  •  Attract and retain profitable businesses for the brokerage firm 
  • Interpret, explain and effectively market services of the firm to potential clients
  • Process all sales transactions assigned, within the set standards required by the firm thus contributing to the productivity of the firm
  • Enhance the image of the firm through the continuous delivery of efficient and effective customer service to all clients
  • Interact frequently with other corporate clients and build effective relationships
  • Gather relevant market information to facilitate management decisions 

Required Skills or Experience

  • University degree in Marketing, Insurance or Social Sciences
  • Professional qualification in Marketing or Insurance will be an added advantage
  • Must have seven ( 7) years’ work experience in insurance industry; Five (5) of those years must have been in insurance sales and marketing
  • Business development and marketing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • A driven sales approach that ensures targets are met
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and strong understanding of business requirements
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Extensive social networking across public and private organisations
  • Good knowledge in MS Office application
  • Good market knowledge including competitors
