  • REPORTS TO: Deputy WASH Director
  • LOCATION: Based in Tamale with frequent day and/or overnight travel to rural areas across the Northern, Upper East & Upper West Regions.
 
PURPOSE
The Institutional Relationship Manager is part of the sales team for the Rural Sanitation and Hygiene Market Development in Northern Ghana (RUSHING), which operates a social enterprise called Sama Sama. Sama Sama’s pour flush toilets are sold throughout the northern regions of Ghana. The Institutional Relationship Manager plays a key role in helping Sama Sama sell pour flush toilets and achieve our target of improved access to sanitation and hygiene for 300,000 Northern Ghanians.
 
The Institutional Relationship Manager will develop and manage relationships with businesses and financial organizations in Sama Sama’s target areas to conduct group sales presentations to employees. Additionally, He/She will develop a program to ensure potential customers who bank with our banking partners are referred to those programs for financing opportunities.
 
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Institutional Relationship Manager reports directly to Deputy WASH Director and play a key role on the Strategic Initiatives Team. The Institutional Relationship Manager and will work with the National Sales Manager and others on the sales team. He/She will also develop relationships with businesses and banking partners to cultivate group sales.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and manage relationships with business and organization in Sama Sama sales territories. Identify businesses that may be interested, set up informational meetings through collaborations with key decision makers in those organizations, and reach out to staff members that can participate in our special financing plans through local banks.
  • Develop and give gender-sensitive sales presentations to groups of various sizes on the Sama Sama Pour Flush toilet with the aid of our standard sales methodology. Presentations may range in size from a small group of 10 to a short presentation at a staff meeting of 70+. Presentations may need to be updated to match the audience type, location, or available financing offers. The Institutional Relationship Manager must be comfortable connecting with audiences, both large and small.
  • Coordinate logistics for sales presentations with other Sama Sama staff and bank officers (if needed). Coordinate dates of presentations with the finance team and bank officers (if attendance is needed). Follow up on toilet sales orders submitted and ensure the timely processing of these sales orders.
  • Ensure statistics on presentations, group size, composition, and results are compiled and shared internally.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Graduated from university with degree in/or Marketing/Management/Sales Management.
  • At least 5 years work experience in sales.
  • Proven track record of successful selling.
  • Experience in business development, project coordination, community development, or business start-up is a plus.
  • Available for travel within assigned region and driving skill.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and small business management is an asset.
  • Excellent spoken and written English. Knowledge of Dagbani or other northern Ghanaian languages is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
