PEG delivers Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) asset-based financing to consumers who lack both access to reliable electricity and formal banking services. PEG’s anchor product - a basic solar home system that includes three lights, a phone charger and a radio - allows consumers living on $5-10 per day to access clean light for working and studying after hours, avoid harmful air pollution from kerosene based lighting solutions, and also build credit for additional products and services over time.

PEG has grown from 12 employees in Ghana, to 300+ employees across Ghana and Ivory Coast in the last three years. In addition to this, PEG has 200+ commission based sales agents, 36+ service centers in Ghana, and over a dozen investors and grantors.  PEG has also won numerous awards, including the prestigious 2017 Ashden International Award for excellence in sustainable energy, and has been named as one of the “fastest growing companies in Africa” by the London Stock Exchange.

Job Description

  • Working in a leadership role in a high performance, international environment, the Human Resources Manager will drive business performance through the creation and delivery of HR service and solutions.
  • Leading a small but growing team, the HR Manager will work to attract top tier talent to PEG and create innovative solutions to reward and retain them.
  • He/she will possess strong management and delegation skills within a fast paced environment, with a keen desire to build the capacity of HR employees at PEG through coaching and training.
Responsibilities include:
  • Management of a team of five, covering recruitment, HR administration and facilities management.
  • Developing and implementing strategy to improve HR business practises, while ensuring PEG works in accordance with local labour laws.
  • Ensuring that PEG attracts, hires and retains exceptional talent in both Ghana and abroad.
  • Managing the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A minimum of 7 + years’ previous HR experience.
  • Experience developing and implementing strategies to increase productivity and employee
  • satisfaction.
  • A data-driven approach to analysing and solving complex HR problems.
  • Strong excel, powerpoint and word skills are required.
  • Strong understanding of Ghanaian Labor Law, and how it relates to a fast growing business.
  • Experience in talent acquisition and retention in West Africa.
  • Fluency in English (written and oral) is essential. French a plus.
