Job Description

Our client, an international cement manufacturing company   is looking to hire a competent and proactive Field Instrument and Plant Automation Technician to help with their operations in Ghana.

ROLE PROFILE:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing active support to the daily maintenance in regards of problem solving, root cause analysis, system modification and revising of specification, repair techniques and procedures on PLCs, HMIs, VFDs and process control systems through Advanced Process Control, Alarm Management, and Operator Interface Optimization.

He/She will program Siemens Automation and reports directly to the Electrical Maintenance Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

• Program Siemens Automation
• The focus is on “pro-active” – to avoid failures happenings, to ensure the required equipment availability and maximize equipment life time by standardization of control systems and control logic designs, documentation of operation procedures and as-built drawings and logic at the lowest sustainable maintenance costs.
• Accountable for ensuring the health and safety of oneself and colleague by complying with the Company policies, procedures, guidelines, rules and regulations of Occupational Health and Safety at work
• Analyze equipment performance and decide recommendation of possible equipment modification/improvement
• Obtain reference drawings of existing process control system (to be used as background)
• Make design drawing related for standard and specification criteria for upgrading process control system
• Prepare bill of quantity (BoQ) or scope of work for tendering processes
• Supervise third parties for upgrades/modification
• Contact suppliers to be up to date of the latest technology
• Perform other related duties as assigned for delivering promised to stake holders
• Support electrical & instrument team by providing sketch drawing, cost and technical calculation
• Coordinate manpower and others to relevant parties related with the job execution to achieve work effectiveness
• Commit to implement all Mix ADEX Controller (MAC)-SAP policies related to the authority
• Contribute Root Cause Analysis to solve repetitive failures
• Investigate and analyze equipment failures to define further action and repairing procedure
• Document entire process and prepare monthly presentation
• Propose project items of annual budget and Capex RFA (Request for Application) base on previous study
• Initiate any potential saving to reduce maintenance cost
• Define item work of shutdown related with instrument and automation project improvement/modification work
• Ensure scope of work for lump sum job is available prior to quotation
• Ensure instrument and automation project improvement accomplished as scheduled and qualified by managing all resources such as: manpower, tools, spare part, materials and work permit
• Monthly reporting the updated project modification/ improvement implementation regularly
• Monthly reporting the RCA event based on data trouble in TIS and track the action log
• Support implementation of new projects by configuring control modules, batch programs, and HMI graphics.
• Responsible for training of end users on the operations of newly installed or modified process or control systems

Required Skills or Experience

• BSc degree in Electrical & instrument Engineering or related discipline.

• 3-5years hands-on experienced on electrical & instrument design and

Engineering (preferable Cement Manufacturing industry or FMCG industry)

• Demonstrated record of achievement in Field Instrument and Plant Automation in a similar industrial facility.

REQUIREMENT

• Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written)
• Excellent Microsoft office application skills and SAP experience.
• Knowledge of maintenance systems and the equipment used in cement manufacture as well as the process itself
• Knowledge of the relevant HIL policies and management systems
• Good knowledge of electrical/instrument technical drawing and electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, etc.)
• Must have proven experience with the following HMI or SCADA software packages
• Good knowledge in Project Management Approach (PMA) and capex proposal
• Strong hand on experienced on PLC / DCS programming with expertise in system administrative and maintenance activities, and hardware and software troubleshooting
• Must have proven experience with installation, setup and configuration on variable speed drive – especially for Siemens and ABB
