Job Description

A reputable technology company is looking for a well-rounded Trainee Network Engineer to join a team working on a Data Center and network engineering project. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing IT company  working on some of the most exciting projects.

As  trainee Network Engineer you are responsible for:

  • Contribute to the maintenance of networks and data centre infrastructure
  • Bring up and drive initiatives to simplify and standardize configurations and automate tasks
  • Participate in monitoring and capacity planning activities.
  • Support, debugging and troubleshooting in the event of incidents including root cause analysis.
  • Participate in 24/7 on call rotas
  • Support in all other day to day business work (Projects, Stories, Tasks) 3rd level support including automation of day to day tasks
  • Maintain and use Linux based monitoring and management system
  • Travel to client sites to maintain and support equipment.

Required Skills or Experience

Technical Skills:

  • Basic  knowledge in the following fields would be an advantage:
  • Firewalls; Routing (IGP and/or EGP); Switching; Load-Balancing; Application LayerSwitching; DDoS Mitigation;
    • Network Monitoring; TCP/IP protocol suite; IPv6; SSL/TLS; IPSec; SSL-VPN; WAN-Optimization.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Good communication skills
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to perform in stressful situations
  • Team player which can work self-contained if necessary
  • Self-motivated, self-responsible, proactive and delivery focused working attitude
