The Ghana Employers' Association (GEA) with its partner, Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) is implementing a women leadership development programme, FEMALE FUTURE. The objective of the programme is to equip women with the skills needed to take up top leadership and board positions. The programme was developed in Norway by NHO and has been offered in other countries in Africa, including Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Job Description

Job purpose:
To undertake research to support evidence-based advocacy issues of the Association and also to ensure that the Association maintains good relations with its members, stakeholders, and the general public. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement communication strategy for the Association 
  • Provide technical support for the development and implementation of department business I marketing plans. 
  • Advise management on media communications strategy, and stakeholder relations management. 
  • Coordinate media interest to ensure regular contact with target media and promote appropriate response to media requests. 
  • Oversee internal and external communications via written, printed and electronic mechanism in order to effectively disseminate the Associations advocacy issues 
  • Maintain and update records, library and archives of publicity materials generated by the Association or by external institutions and agencies affecting businesses 
  • Data gathering, analyses and dissemination as well as publication of information on social, economic and political issues that impact business. 
  • Representation of the Association at various forums and meetings as well as engagement with policymakers on common issues that border on growth and development of businesses 
  • Undertake research to support GEA policy development and advocacy Issues and regular reporting and publication of research findings 
  • Undertake Economic and labour market Analysis to inform member companies about economic trends such as Consumer Price Index, Interest Rate and any other economic activities that impact on businesses. 
  • Develop and publish position papers quarterly to support evidence-based advocacy issue of the Association 
  • Undertake any other research and data analysis that may be assigned by GEA

Required Skills or Experience

The Person: 
  • Must possess a minimum of Masters Degree in Mass Communication or the Social Sciences with five years' post qualification working experience in research or media relations
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be computer literate
  • Willingness to travel at short notice
