Company Profile The Aquaya Institute (Aquaya) is a non-profit research and consulting organization dedicated to expanding safe water and sanitation access in developing countries through science and innovation. Supported by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the five-year (2021-2026) Hilton Foundation Africa Water Quality Testing Fellowship Program aims, among other things, to collect water quality monitoring data from households, schools, and healthcare facilities in seven focal districts throughout Ethiopia, Ghana, and Uganda. This will provide a strong evidence base and inform strategies for water quality improvement interventions. Job Description
WASHPaLS, through implementing partner, the Aquaya Institute, seeks to broaden the evidence base on the use and effectiveness of sanitation interventions, including Community Based Total Santation (CLTS). Aquaya’s initial desk review has revealed that researchers and CLTS implementers agree that the CLTS approach does not perform equally well in all communities. A number of authors have characterized both programmatic conditions and contextual conditions that lead to more successful implementation.
WASHPaLS’ research attempts to i) identify the relative importance of different factors associated with performance and ii) gain an in-depth understanding of the context-specific processes underlying the sustainable eradication of open defecation.
