Job Description

  • Job Title: Certification Officer
  • Department:Sourcing
  • Reports To: Sourcing Project Manager - Agronomy
  • Location: Onsite at HPW Fresh and Dry Ltd, Adeiso, E/R and any other location that will require your work

Job Purpose
Assist the Project Manager in monitoring the implementation of certification standards on sites, managing all relevant documents, successfully renewing all certificates annually and training staff and outgrowers on all certification standards (EU, NOP, Biosuisse Organic, Global GAP, Fairtrade, Rainforest standards)

Job Duties
HPW

  • Lead bi-annual internal audits for Certification standards.
  • Manage all relevant documentation in relation to Certification Standards.
  • Prepare and lead annual external audits in cooperation with Project Manager.
  • Report to Project manager on the implementation of all standards.
  • Follow up on corrective actions and communicate with certification body.
  • Communicate audit outcomes to management and staff.
  • Conduct risk assessments in relation to farm and factory activities.
  • Draft policies, procedures and management plans relevant to certification.
  • Monitor all Farm and Factory record keeping in relation to certification standards.
  • Prepare, organize and hold trainings for staff on certification standards.

OUTGROWERS

  • Support grower groups for successful renewal of certificates.
  • Prepare and Lead annual Certification audits for grower groups.
  • Monitor record keeping for grower groups.
  • Train grower groups on the various Certification standards.
  • Report to Project Manager on the implementation of standards on supplier fields.

GENERAL

  • Update Management and staff on changes and new developments in certification standards.
  • Attend all relevant trainings and workshops in relation to certification standards.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Minimum of bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Agriculture, Horticulture or Agriculture related field.
  • Practical knowledge/experience in Agronomy certification standards and audits with at least three years relevant work experience preferably in food production and processing environment.
  • Knowledge in EU, NOP, Biosuisse Organic, Global GAP, Fairtrade, Rainforest standards.
  • Familiarity with organic systems in crop production and food processing.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office and Good Presentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and be self–motivated.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment.
  • Ability to walk over a variety of terrains to complete visual inspections. Climbing may be involved.
  • Be willing to work in normal farm environments, including around livestock.
  • Willing to travel, including overnight.
