Job Description

One of Africa’s leading Communication consulting firms in Accra requires a qualified person to fill the position of: Communications Consultant

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Client Communication Needs Analysis
    • Assists with the review of strategic plans and annual operational/marketing plans or tactical plans of clients to determine associated communication needs
  • Situational Analysis - Communication Research
    • Gathers data on specific client activities to facilitate the development of concepts for assigned clients
  • Concept and proposal development 
    • Contributes to the development and implementation of Communication proposals, concepts, strategies and plans for clients. This includes concepts, proposals, strategies and plans for digital communication.
  • Support for client communications activities as follows:
    • Assists with the development of editorial Material such as:
      • Key and sub messages
      • Fact sheets
      • Talking points
      • Q and As
      • Issues based Q and As
    • Speeches 
    • Press Releases
    • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
    • Feature articles
    • Newsletters
    • Brochures
    • Annual reports and other publications 
  • Supports Channel selection and deployment
    • Contributes to selecting appropriate channels for delivering on clients’ messages and activities.
  • Awareness and knowledge creation 
    • Assists in generating awareness and knowledge about client products and services. 
  • Supports clients with building, managing and sustaining relationships with stakeholders.
  • Media management and relationship building  
    • Cultivates and maintains good relationships with the media
    • Assists with coordinating media coverage for clients’ activities 
    • Analyzes media clippings on clients with appropriate recommendations 
    • Social Media Management 
      • Develops and implements social media strategies and plans for clients as follows:
      • Content development and posting
      • Manages social media  campaigns 
      • Monitors  and evaluates social media campaigns 
  • Reporting 
    • Prepares activity, contact, weekly, and monthly reports on work done for assigned clients as required.
  • Undertakes any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Required Skills or Experience

  • A good first degree in communications or related discipline
  • A second degree will be an advantage 
  • At least 5 years working experience in the communications industry
  • Significant knowledge of the media landscape in Ghana 
  • Strong digital communication skills 
  • Expertise in communication research
  • Considerable Agency experience
  • Membership of Professional Communications body 
  • Ability to manage at least three accounts (mix bag of major and small accounts
