Job Description

Job Summary
The Medical Detailer is responsible for managing domestic sales, expansion of regional sales outlets (distribution network) and exhibitions of the North Eastern Sector enclaves. The Detailer is to detail and sell products in Northern Region, North East Region, Oti Region and the Upper East Region.

General Duties

  • Participate in the development and implementation of sales strategy thatsupports the effective execution of regional sales activities. ie to educate all and sundry about the reproductive health products with focus on company’s brands.
  • Drive, support, and execute strategic initiatives for multiple sale functions within the Region’s supply chain structure.
  • Develop strategic business plans and objectives.
  • Drive and ensure the expansion of the regional distribution network.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure sales of product in the regional sector to health facilities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationship with key health facilities.
  • Organize “in-touch” meetings with pharmacists, nurses, midwives and Doctors to share the strategy and the merchandising efforts with them.
  • Organize sales products presentations at hospitals and clinics
  • Provide insights to the Marketing and Program teams on demand generation activities to properly plan and execute them
  • Perform pre-assessments on private health facilities to join the branded sales channel
  • Develop and manage operating budgets in a cost-effective manner.
  • Manage budgets of operations.
  • Prepare and submit monthly budget tracking documents, actual financial spend and forecasts to line manager within allocated time frame.
  • Seek opportunities to reduce costs and maximize return for SFH wherever possible
  • Contribute to establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for their region; projecting expected sales volume and overall distribution for Short Term (ST) and Long Term (LT) Methods
  • Provide insights to senior management in order to adjust national sales volume, product/channel mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
  • Maintain proper numeric distribution of all products in their territory
  • Monitor stock at hospitals, clinics, health centres and CHPS
  • Ensure availability and visibility of all product categories
  • Submit monthly reports to line manager about  hospital, clinics, health centres and CHPS performance
  • Map, engage and develop a relationship to private sector health facilities in their territory with a formal visit plan
  • Reporting out of stocks and other challenges in their territory
  • Report competitors pricing and activities each on a monthly basis.
  • Any other job assigned as and when required.

Reporting Schedule

  • Report on progress of regional sales of the region to the Ass. GM, Sales on weekly/monthly/quarterly and annual basis.

Relations to the Job Function

  • Internal - Liaise with all divisional and departmental Heads to ensure effective implementation of the Company’s regional domestic sales action plans.
  • External - Liaise with hospitals, clinics, health centres and CHPS

Specific/Mandatory Requirements

  • Facilitate the drafting of key sales objectives and conduct regular assessment of regional performance and develop improvement marketing plans to achieve personal Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
  • Provide guidance and leadership in driving sales and execution of expansion of local markets within the region.
  • Ensure goods leaving the Company’s warehouse (dispatched goods) are covered by a waybill and approved packing list.
  • Establish solid regional distribution centre and working relationships with local Hospitals, clinics, health centres and CHPS compounds (expansion of the company’s distribution base).
  • Manage regional partners and effectively:
    • Dispatch ordered products on time,
    • Plan inventory levels and replenishment of stock items to meet sales targets in the region,
    • Design marketing strategies to enhance domestic sales.

Required Skills or Experience

The selected candidates will have the relevant skills listed below:

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a qualification in Business, sales or Science Related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Sales of FMCG and work experience in pharmaceutical industry.
  • Sales data collection and analysis. 
  • Must be able to identify strategic opportunities and execute against a formal plan.
  • Possess excellent influencing and negotiation experience.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and financial competency.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, time management, and organizational experience

KNOWLEDGE

  • Local Business environment and practices 
  • Highly knowledgeable in Sales and Medical detaining of pharmaceutical products
  • Experience in using consumer management relationship systems (CRMS) to monitor and plan sales.
