Job Description

  • Reports To:    Procurement Manager
  • Cordinates With:    All Departments
  • Resposible For:    N/A

Purpose of The Job:

  • To plan, execute, and control the efficient, effective, flow and storage of goods and services, and related information from point of origin to point of delivery for the purpose of conforming to customer/client requirement. Control the flow of incoming materials and outgoing materials to ensure customers receive products on time whilst liaising with warehouse to oversee inventory control, material handling, customer service, transportation.

Essential Function and Responsibilities

  • Manage, co-ordinate and liaise effectively with suppliers of raw materials, manufacturers, retailers and consumers.
  • Develop and implement methodologies and tools to enable effective execution of logistic plans
  • Formulate Standard Operating Procedures for easier effective operations
  • Manage logistics operations, including, material and personnel
  • Coordinate logistics activities with procurement, finance, and other substantive depts.
  • Develop and implement logistics support policy, procedures and methodologies to the common benefit of all mission units;
  • Prepare reports on personnel, material movements and other operational logistics issues
  • Identify, plan and manage all logistics operations
  • General procurement and order processing
  • Mange company fleet
  • Monitor vehicle tracker
  • Monitor servicind dates ,Insurance etc
  • Ensure the  right items are delivered on time according to the specification
  • Communication with customers regarding parts and delivery times
  • Communications with internal and external suppliers regarding deliveries
  • Ensuring that PO’s raised meet the expected criteria
  • Preparation of delivery documentation and liaison with shippers to ensure shipments are received as per the details without challenges
  • Ensure the adherence to the correct export documentation and customs conditions.
  • Assist all departments with quotations  and logistics needs                                                  

Other Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Managing delivery timetables
  • Looking at ways to improve logistics and procurement as a whole
  • Overseeing the arrival goods
  • Managing clerical, administrative and logistics staff
  • Monitoring performance and making sure targets are met
  • Material resource sourcing
  • Enhance good relations with suppliers
  • Source components under pressure
  • Monitor and develop existing logistics processes
  • Implement  cost-saving initiatives

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise the work of officers in the department to ensure they perform their work effectively.
  • Oversee all jobs linked to logistics and procurement to ensure they are carried out effectively.
  • An interface between management and clients

General Duties

  • Any other duties that may be assigned.

  • Developing , monitoring and implementing strategies for effective logistics movement
  • Effective management of staff within department for optimum performance
  • Meet timelines and deadlines
  • Material sourcing within short time frame
  • Continuous improvement in Logistics and Procurement  with measureable performance
  • Strict adherence to HSE rules and regulations
  • Meeting the KPI agreement.
  • Well  documented  Standard Operating Procedures for easier effective operations

Required Skills or Experience

  • Degree/HND in Logistics, procurement and/or supply chain management
  • Postgraduate Degree is an added advantage
  • Driver license Category B
  • First aid valid certificate

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Logistics and Procurement Management role in a similar industry   
  • Demonstrable experience of managing high value logistics
  • Extensive experience in a variety of Procurement and Contracting methods
  • Effective development of logistics and procurement strategies
  • Experience of working in an integrated project team involving supplier partnering organisations
  • Experience of managing major change programmes and developing team capability forecast requirements

Knowledge

  • Ability to and support key negotiations with supplier’s pre and post contract award.   
  • Knowledge in  the Telecom engineering industry
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of structures
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote positive work practices to improve performance.
  • MS Office applications.
