Job Description

Reports To: MANAGING DIRECTOR
 
 
Purpose
Responsible for:
  • Building up and maintain sound relationships with all online media houses in Ghana so that we can have their support of hosting their contents on media platform.
  • Creating and developing content that fulfills the overall creative, commercial and business goals 
Key Roles and Responsibilities 
  • Manage content providers, partners and influencers on the News, Buzz and Entertainment categories.
  • Act as the liaison between the company and it's relationships with media outlets.
  • Build out and maintain process and calendar for assigning out breaking stories as well as daily and longer lead assignments.
  • Have a network of strong bloggers, writers and contributors
  • Work closely with marketing team on social strategy.
  • Coordinate with video and design teams to create video or design assets that help best tell stories. 
  • Maintain and develop strong internal and external working relationships while being internally and externally recognized as an ambassador for company’s values. 
  • Have strength in creating strong processes for producing fast, well-written content, and can think about presenting stories in the right format (written, visual and video).
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills or Experience

  • B.A or BSC degree in English, journalism or mass communication or a related field
  • 3+ years experience working in a fast-paced media or editorial environment
  • Proven track record for building and managing fast-moving teams of editors and writers focused on news, celebrity buzz and entertainment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with editorial, marketing, commercial, design and technical teams.
Required Competencies and Attributes
  • Good knowledge of social media platforms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • An understanding of legal issues, such as copyright, privacy and website accessibility
  • Strong network with bloggers, newspapers, TV & radio houses
  • Excellent editorial, research, writing, interviewing and copy editing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects across multiple platforms at once.
  • Proven ability to work with the various tools of the trade - content management systems; photo, video and audio editing software and a basic knowledge of HTML.
  • A good understanding of SEO and how it shapes the content production process.
  • Ability to commission content for multiple platforms.
  • Demonstrable track record of producing content that engages users and grows audience.
  • Awareness of key events in the city throughout the calendar year.
  • Organized, Detail-Oriented and able to meet deadlines
  • Great team player
