Job Description

• Soft collections: Manages the process of following up on clients who have missed their payments. Common tools used include calls from a contact centre, robot dialers and bulk messaging.
• Third party Relationship Management: Responsible for recruiting and managing relationships with third party collections agencies and partner institutions such as debt collection companies and direct debit banks
• Field Recoveries: Manages a team of field collection officers tasked to enforce loan repayment covenants with defaulting clients.
• Collateral Confiscations and Auctions: Where required, the collections and recoveries manager leads the process of issuing demand notices, obtaining the required approvals including a Certificate of No Objection (CR7) from the Bank of Ghana Collateral Registry and taking the appropriate steps to confiscate, auction and account for the proceeds of auction with the objective of recovering delinquent loan balances
• Legal Collections: Works closely with the company’s internal legal unit or external solicitors in the pursuit of legal actions against defaulting borrowers or in defense of cases brought against the company by loan customers.

Required Skills or Experience

• At least 6 years’ experience in credit underwriting, portfolio management and collections, 3 of which is at management level
• Practical understanding of collections and recoveries laws and processes in Ghana
• A degree in business, Economics, Mathematics or related field
• Strong numerical skills, with a good grasp of Microsoft Excel.
• Strong presentation skills, with a good grasp of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
