Job Description

Plantations Socfinaf Ghana (PSG) Limited wishes to inform all qualified and interested candidates about a vacant position in the Plantations Department: Plantations Superintendent, Oil Palm 
 
Reporting To: Plantations Manager
 
Job Purpose 
To manage the Field Operational Activities of the Oil Palm Section of the Plantations Department, Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the Section to leverage for productivity, growth and expansion of the entire Plantations Department and the Company as a whole.  
 
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The job title holder reports to the Plantations Manager of the Company and take instructions and directives from him in all aspects of work.
 
This work will among other things include the following:
  • Land preparation
  • Roads opening and maintenance
  • Lining and holing for seedlings planting
  • Planting of seedlings
  • Fertilization of planted materials
  • Application of pesticides
  • Arrangement and Supervision of weeding schedules 
  • Pruning
  • Harvesting of fruits
  • Evacuation of fruits to mill
  • Submission of Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reports covering the operations.

Required Skills or Experience

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
Degree in Agriculture/Degree in Agric-Economics/Degree in Natural Resources Management or HND in Agriculture.
 
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Minimum of eight (8) years (Degree Holder) or twelve (12) years (HND Holder) post qualification working experience in managing a Section or Department of an organization.

  • Knowledge in managing people
  • Knowledge in the use of the computer (Microsoft word, excel, and the internet i.e. e-mail, outlook and spread sheet).
  • Conversant with contract management skills.
