Job Description

• Serviced construction equipment that varied from Dump trucks, backhoes and wheel loaders to excavators, bulldozers, telehandlers etc.
• Perform pre-delivery inspections of equipment.
• Ensures breakdowns are rectified on time.
• Conduct troubleshooting of breakdowns to ascertain the cause to prevent further occurrences.
• Assemble and installed equipment attachments/components.
• Ensures operators are trained well to effectively conduct pre-start checks.
• Ensures equipment is functioning properly.
• Ensures outstanding problems on equipment are reported daily to the appropriate people.
• Completed repairs in a timely manner to attain company-established time standards.
• On performance reviews, received recognition for quality of work, attendance, and willingness to perform whatever tasks required. 
• Ensures that planned maintenance activities are timely done.
• Liaises with procurement to ensure parts for maintenances and breakdowns are received on time.
• Liaises with Head of safety to investigate equipment incidences and damages with the view of finding the root causes and possible solutions to prevent further occurrences.
• Ensures that requested parts are used accordingly and old ones returns to procurement. 
• Examine parts for damages and excessive wear and take corrective action to prevent future occurrences
• Replace and service defective engines and subassemblies such as torque convertors, telescopic cylinders, cycle turner assemblies etc
• Test and overhaul equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
• Perform repairs and other assigned preventive maintenance activities.
• Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the superior

Required Skills or Experience

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the maintenances and servicing of heavy-duty construction equipment.
• Minimum of Bsc degree / MVT PART3 or 2/HND in mechanical Engineer

TECHNICAL

• Strong technical understanding and experience in construction equipment
• Able to Troubleshoot breakdowns of construction equipment to ascertain the causes of the breakdowns/problems.
• Experience in hydraulics and Pneumatics systems.
• Strong knowledge in hydraulic systems.
