Headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka, IWMI is a CGIAR Research Center and leads the CGIAR Research Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems (WLE). www.iwmi.org Job Description Program Officer, Accra, Ghana The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) (www.iwmi.org) is looking for a competent, self-motivated team player to join its West Africa Office in Accra, Ghana, as Program Officer, who will report to the Country Representative - Ghana. The Program Officer will be responsible for providing administrative, operational and scientific management support to the Country Representative - Ghana and project leaders throughout project life cycle. The candidate will be required to update and maintain up-to-date information on project-specific data in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) and other reporting platforms; liaise with the Program Management Office at IWMI headquarters, as and when necessary; support the delivery of operational activities and services; contracting and keeping track of all contract agreements; maintaining contacts with partners; keeping a record of stakeholder engagements; and assisting with French to English translations and vice-versa. Terms of the Appointment This is a nationally recruited position with a competitive salary and benefits package. The duration of the contract will be for a two-year period with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds.
Required Skills or Experience Candidates must have a university degree in a relevant scientific discipline; a postgraduate diploma or degree in administration or related discipline with five years’ relevant administrative experience and experience of working in international organizations. The candidate must also possess demonstrated strong communication skills, particularly when preparing correspondence and briefings; demonstrated familiarity with social media and the ability to use such media to promote inter-office communications and information sharing; ability to use spreadsheets and word processing programs at a highly proficient level; and an excellent command of English and knowledge of French.
