PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
In close coordination with the US Embassy and USAID, the goal of the USAID/OTI-funded Littorals Regional Initiative (LRI) is to support US foreign policy priorities to shore up stability and prevent violent extremism in the Littoral region, including Ghana.

Initial objectives include: 
1. Rapidly delivering effective and relevant programming on the ground through targeted interventions that may be scaled up.
2. Informing and improving USG programming by piloting approaches and sharing reporting.
3. Providing rapid response capacity, from hiring STTAs to quick response activities, in the event of a crisis or opportunity.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Office Cleaner / Messenger will be responsible for daily cleaning and maintenance of the program’s head office located in Accra.  The office cleaner will ensure that the office is clean and orderly and presentable to visitors.  The Office Cleaner / Messenger will keep tidy the kitchen, lobby, empty rubbish bins, ensure that the yard is clean and maintained and monitor generator usage, turning on the generator as needed, and ensuring that the generator is secured in the evening. The Office Cleaner / Messenger will also perform a variety of tasks as helper and messenger, collecting and delivering mail, supporting office hospitality in the presence of guests and providing photocopying services as required.  

REPORTING & SUPERVISION
The Office Cleaner / Messenger reports to the Sr. Human Resource Officer. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Cleaning Services

  • Keep office clean and orderly, including the kitchen, lobby and toilets at all times
  • Empty rubbish bins
  • Maintain yard and basic landscaping duties
  • Secure generator and ensure that basic usage logs are maintained. 
  • Ensure the generator fuel tank is filled as needed.
  • Report on the stock status of toilet rolls, soaps, washing liquid etc.
  • Maintaining the organization of paper, documents, and clean desks and offices
  • Supporting office hospitality in the presence of guests
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Any other work as required

Messenger Services

  • Collection and delivery of mail and other materials as required from and to vendors, government agencies and other institutions
  • Photocopying and duplicating services
  • Ensuring that tea, water and refreshments are served and provided to the management staff and official meetings as requested
  • Assist in the loading, unloading and movement of furniture, equipment and cargo office supplies
  • Perform variety of unskilled tasks as helper and messenger

Required Skills or Experience

  • Secondary school certificate is required.
  • Able to read and write in English.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple and potentially competing deadlines.
  • Some previous work experience desired (up to 6 months).
  • Must have existing work authorization for Ghana.
