ENGINEERING STRATEGIST

Position Summary
The  reputable construction company with over 30 years of experience in the construction sector in Ghana, that is committed to improving the quality of life of Ghanaian through the provision of appropriate and sustainable infrastructure development solutions is in search of an experienced and driven Civil Engineer, with wealth of industry knowledge to take up the role of Engineering Strategist. 

The main purpose is to lead the engineering Strategy for the organization. This will entail the development of strategies and processes to ensure that product quality and customer satisfaction are maintained; and that there is the continuous improvement of products, processes and services.

To ensure success in the role, the ideal candidate must possess strong leadership qualities and must be able to demonstrate, a appreciate and articulate all construction engineering design and work-related issues appropriately. This role will have direct oversight of all quality control and engineering services and teams in the company.

Responsibilities
The Engineering Strategist is responsible for the following duties:

• To lead the Engineering Strategy for the organization.
• To have oversight of all quality control and engineering services and teams in the company.
• Direct and control the staff of the quality department to ensure that they are well motivated and receive all necessary training and development to enable them to carry out their responsibilities to the required standards.
• Develop strategies and processes to ensure that total quality is promoted throughout the company.
• Develop processes and procedures to ensure that there is continuous improvement in all company operations and that waste is kept to a minimum.
• Act as the company’s expert on quality management and provide any necessary training and advice to managers and staff to ensure that they pursue the objectives of total quality management and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with clients and other stakeholders to fully understand any constraints that may impact engineering efforts, architecture, integration etc.
• Develop quality targets and measures for all company operations and monitor the performance.
• Provide advice and guidance to the company, its managers and staff on any regulatory aspects of engineering and total quality management.
• Facilitate all necessary research to keep abreast with latest developments in the fields of total quality management and continuous improvement to ensure that the company maintains its competitive position.
• Control all departmental budgets and resources to ensure effective cost control in accordance with quality standards.

Required Skills or Experience

• A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field is required. A master’s degree in any of these areas is a plus.
• A minimum of 10 years working experience in total quality management is required.
• Substantial knowledge of quality improvement techniques.
• Significant managerial experience is required.
• Demonstrated success in implementing practical solutions to enhance stakeholder satisfaction

Technical Skills:

• Technical knowledge in CAD, AutoCAD, design skills, construction works supervision, site development, database design, and planning
• Excellent leadership and organizational abilities
• Superior knowledge of industry regulations and guidelines
• Outstanding negotiation skills
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Good interpersonal skills
