Job Description

There is an opportunity to join the Corporate Affairs Division (Human Resource Department) as Learning & Development Assistant

  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Location: Ghana (In Country Only
  • Reports to: Deputy Manager, Learning and Development

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Adult Learning Philosophy

  • Apply adult learning theories to develop learning solutions in different learning contexts
  • Apply the factors of motivation in the planning and delivery of learning activities
  • Provide input in drafting/ updating formal and informal learning processes and guidelines
  • Analyze current development offerings and draft/update learning solutions which align with the 70:20:10 framework
  • Examine L&D trends and draw insights from the internal - external learning and training space and transfer into the planning of learning solutions

Design & Delivery of L&D Solutions

  • Apply a range of L&D analytical techniques to analyze data on capability and learning needs and report insights to supervisor
  • Catalogue learning options to meet individual and team requirements considering optimal delivery channels for managers
  • Design and develop face-to-face, digital, and blended learning programmes/activities/ learning solutions that make appropriate use of new technologies alongside more traditional approaches
  • Source and analyze learning options and channels aligned to the 70/20/10 principles to meet development needs/ and close competency gaps for employees
  • Utilise a variety of tools and techniques to evaluate L&D activities
  • Utilise innovative learning technological solutions including AI to design learning experiences
  • Act as administrator for the learning and development systems used

Leadership Development

  • Provide input in assessing leadership capability needs of individual contributors and team leads against the requirements for the organization’s current challenges
  • Provide input to develop leadership development checklists and guidelines
  • Support others to access leadership development pathway guides to complete leadership assessment and learning gaps generation. 

Competency Management

  • Provide support in establishing and updating competency management framework
  • Provide input in developing/ updating competency management guidelines/processes
  • Act as administrator of the competency management tools and systems
  • Guide individual contributors to assess competencies and align learning to competency gaps
  • Source learning options and channels aligned to the 70/20/10 contributors and team leads approach for individual
  • Guide individual contributors and team leads to establish a relationship between competency gaps and achievement of learning goal
  • Provide coaching to team leads to align learning and development priorities with competency needs within their teams
  • Support the implementation drive of competency-based approach to capability development
  • Develop bit-sized digital learning initiatives covering competency management

Instructional Design & Delivery

  • Draft/update learning needs identification guidelines
  • Provide support to others to develop SMARTER learning objectives for learning activities to reflect specific performance requirements
  • Develop multimedia and electronic learning products including Web-based learning.
  • Use visuals, text, and audio instructional materials to develop knowledge and tasks content
  • Write storyboards that meet the needs of learners, developers, and subject matter experts
  • Develop digital learning content
  • Design innovative, interactive instruction that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners, using a variety of existing and emerging technologies
  • Utilise recognised e-learning instructional design model to develop e-learning that motivate, inform, and change behaviour and performance
  • Create e-learning designs using the CCAF (Context, Challenge, Activity and Feedback) Model to maximize retention and change in behaviour
  • Complete a design plan for a scenario-based e-learning
  • Draft a course structure diagram and storyboards for an eLearning course

Knowledge Management

  • Apply methods and techniques for capturing and codifying knowledge
  • Apply methods and techniques for disseminating and/or sharing knowledge across individuals, teams, and organisation
  • Provide input in designing and implementing knowledge management strategy
  • Identify and utilize new/ existing tools and systems to support the capturing and codifying knowledge within the organisation
  • Support the organizing and synthesizing of information from multiple sources to be in alignment with organisation’s practices

L&D Administration

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver WAPCo session of orientation for new hires for non-managerial employees
  • Update and maintain L&D records on learning briefs, proposals, facilitation plans, rosters, reports and assessments manually and on SharePoint.
  • Analyze L&D metrics and manage learning database
  • Implement L&D policy and processes
  • Ensure L&D policy and processes are always adhered to and report non-conformities for redress
  • Provide inputs for the development of the WAPCo learning & development annual plan and budget and track actual expenditure against budget
  • Coordinate the provision of L&D logistics

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Instructional Design, Adult Education, Engineering, Economics or Health & Safety. Professional Certificate in Instructional Design or an advanced degree in Adult Education/ Human Resources Development is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in L&D.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources Development levers including adult learning philosophy, experiential learning and the 70:20:10 model are requirements
  • A record of accomplishment in e-Learning design, content development, deployment, and delivering e-Learning and blended learning solutions are essentialWorking Experience and Educational Background
