Job Description

A reputable and rapidly growing organization is seeking the services of  smart, confident, performance oriented and experienced professionals to occupy the position of Branch Manager.

Location of position: Goaso, Ahafo Region

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of Branch
    • In collaboration with the Human Resources and Training Department, hire, train, support, and motivate branch staff.
    • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and discipline within the Branch and ensure that all staff members are performing according to expectation.
    • Ensure the Branch work flow is efficient and well-defined on a weekly and monthly basis.  
  • Build community rapport and Promote activities of the Institution
    • Become knowledgeable and known in the Branch’s geographic zone.
    • Build rapport with community and business associations and leaders;
    • Develop goodwill of community towards the institution.
    • Lead Institutions’ promotional activities in branch area, ensure products are known by potential clients.
  • Financial Planning and Management
    • Develop annual plans and budgets for the branch, paying particular attention to the creation of efficiencies and reduction of the Branch costs.
    • Approve Branch expenses within the budget parameters.
  • Supervision and Monitoring
    • Ensure that all Branch staff follow and implement policies and procedures.
    • Spot-check approved applications.
    • Set performance goals with Branch staff and monitor performance per procedures for all Branch staff.
    • Implement the performance management system at the Branch level.
  • Branch Administration
    • Ensure that the Branch maintains neat, up-to-date and accurate client records.
    • Organize and maintain neat, up-to-date and accurate files regarding performance of each Branch staff member. 
    • Ensure that all approved loans in the Branch are disbursed timeously and accurately.
  • Branch Reporting
    • Prepare and submit Branch portfolio and other financial reports timeously on a regular basis.
    • Complete summary Branch reports of supervision and monitoring activities and findings timeously on a regular basis.
  • Loan Approvals
    • Coordinate the activities of the credit committee for loan applications pertaining to his/her Branch.
    • Chair the credit committee for loan applications pertaining to his/her Branch within his/her authority level.
    • Ensure all documentation and requirements are complete prior to loan approvals.
    • Ensure quality of analysis by all loan officers in the Branch.
  • Customer Creation and Institutions’ Accounts
    • Authorize the creation of all customers in the system.
    • Sign forms for customers to open Institutions’ accounts.  Hand over forms to Customer Service.
  • Disbursements
    • Check and authorize disbursements in the system in accordance with the policies and procedures.
  • Business Development
    • Ensure that the loan portfolio growth matches the Branch Budget.
    • In cases where the rate of growth is below the Budget, the Branch Manager should provide adequate explanation for the deviations and advise the Credit Manager on the most appropriate corrective measures. 
    • Meet and build rapport with all branch staff, business/market associations and other relevant organizations in the branch’s zone on a regular basis.
    • Monitor business progress, provide assistance, demonstrate concern, and build loyalty among the business/market associations and clients.
    • Keep abreast of the economic developments in the branch’s zone. 
  • Debt Recovery
    • Review the daily repayment reports and other relevant reports per Loan Officer and for the entire Branch as soon as they are available. 
    • Ensure that debt recovery strategy and procedures are adhered to.
    • Assist with late repayment recovery where necessary, in accordance with Institutions’ policies and procedures.
  • Mentoring and Training
    • Train new Loan Officers and other branch staff on Institutions’ Policies and Procedures.
  • System Issues
    •     Communicate all issues with the Branch system hardware and software to the relevant support staff at Head Office.

    • Customer Creation in system (Approved by Branch Credit Committee)
    • Loan Disbursements (Approved by Branch Credit Committee)
  • Approve:          
    • Loans above Senior Loan Officer authority limits and within own limits
    • Branch expenses within budget
    • Delinquency management strategies
    • Opening Accounts (Customers Approved by Branch Credit Committee)
    • Performance Management of Branch Staff​
  • Recommend:    
    • Loans above own authority limits
    •  Branch budgets
    • Hiring and promotion of Branch office staff

Required Skills or Experience

Qualification

  • A minimum of BSC in Business, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, and/or related fields with numerate coursework

Experience

  • Minimum of 24 months of experience with excellent record as a senior loan officer or equivalent experience in delivering credit products

Skills and Competencies

  • Honest, self –motivated and has desire to succeed
  • Performance as senior loan officer is on or above target (at time of promotion)
  • Strong management skills; able to coach and motivate
  • Understand the local economy
  • Strong analytical skills, e.g. read and interpret financial statements; evaluate loan recommendations
  • Excellent computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Experience with Flexcube banking software is recommended
  • Ability to set realistic projections for the branch
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Speak local language(s)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good time management and planning skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Strong negotiation skills and business judgment
