Yinson Production is a multinational Company in the business of building, operating and managing Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels, Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) vessels, and Mobile Offshore Production Units (MOPU) for the Oil and Gas Industry. Currently Yinson Production operates FPSOs in Gabon, Nigeria, Vietnam and Ghana. Yinson Production has formed a Joint venture company, Yinson Production West Africa Ltd (YPWAL) in Ghana with Oil and Marine Agencies Limited (OMA Ghana).

Job Description

SCOPE
The job holder will oversee the day-to-day tax function for the Yinson Group’s activities in Africa. The primary role of the position is to ensure all aspects of tax compliance, tax planning and dispute resolutions for the Yinson Group’s tax presences in Africa, and any other tax functions as may be directed from time to time. This strategic position will be part of Yinson’s Group Tax and Structure team and will be based in Ghana. The position will report to the Global Head of Yinson’s Group Tax and Structure team and work closely with Country Managers/MDs based in Africa.

PRINCIPAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The roles and responsibility of the position includes but not limited to the following

  • Assist with tax planning and advisory initiatives
  • Assist with Group-wide M&A, internal reorg etc. activities
  • Track new tax developments, evaluate implications to existing and future businesses
  • Coordinate tax audits and disputes with the aim of driving optimal outcomes for tax controversy and / or dispute resolutions
  • Work with tax authorities on various incentives, grants, waivers, exemptions, etc.
  • Coordinate communications with external stakeholders, including tax authorities, tax advisors and auditors, Oil Majors, subcontractors, etc.
  • Work closely with the local business units on matters concerning tax
  • Oversee general compliance matters including but not limited to
    • General corporate direct and indirect tax compliance;
    • Transfer pricing planning and compliance
    • Withholding tax administration and compliance
    • Expatriate employment tax compliance
  • Ad-hoc tax related support, as and when required

Required Skills or Experience

  • 1st degree in business related studies
  • Fully qualified accountant (ICA, ACCA, CPA or its equivalent e.g. law degree with experience practicing in Tax)
  • Fully qualified member of Chartered Institute of Taxation (Ghana)
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in an accounting firm (preferably a Big Four) and / or a large organisation with an in-house tax function
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry and renewables is an added benefit
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • A resourceful, analytical and self-motivated mindset
  • Strong adaptability and technical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
