Job Summary
TheProgrammes and New Business Development Senior Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of DKT’s programmes department and its activities. He/She will build on DKTs project successes to attract more funding and position DKT as a competitive NGO within the family planning sector.

General Duties;

  • The Programmes and New Business Development Senior Manager is a member of Country Management Team & ensures that DKT International, Inc Ghana (DKT) develops and maintains effective relationships with key stakeholders, ensures the effective coordination, writing, monitoring and development of fund raising proposals. This goes beyond a simple funding relationship and seeks to build and maintain a true partnership arrangement between DKT and the various potential donors and partners.
  • It also includes the co-ordination of the new capability for the business to enable effective change and realization of projected benefits.
  • Organize commercial programmes/targets related to individual/departments and company strategic goal.
  • Ensure quality of service/product delivered by the Company.
  • The Senior Manager (Programmes and New Business Development) is responsible for the overall integrity and coherence of the programme. They will develop and maintain the programme environment to support each individual project within it - often through an effective programme management office.

Specific Duties;

The Programmes and New Business Development Senior Manager is mandated to specifically:

  • Network to identify opportunities for fundraising.
  • Develop and execute DKT PR Led activations for the programme development purposes. 
  • Supervise and support internal monitoring and evaluation of DKT projects and programmes, as well as their impact monitoring.
  • Develop, write and support in development of project / programme proposals for funding of new programmes.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, review and update DKT Programme Development Strategic plan and its implementation plan, Corporate Relations Plan to ensure its alignment with the Country FP Strategic Plan.
  • Develops strategic partnerships with key constituencies to elicit support for and maximize impact of promotional objectives; serves as a spokesperson/principal communications and advocacy liaison to media organizations, governmental bodies, national groups, private sector organizations, educational organizations, international organizations, etc.
  • Takes the lead in organizing media outreach for DKT promotion; arranges all media contacts, press briefings, and interviews; provides talking points and other materials as needed for senior staff; responds to media inquiries quickly and effectively.
  • Act as national focal and coordination point for in-country proposals.
  • Provides advice and expertise to managers, senior officers and other public information staff on a range of advocacy and outreach issues, methods, and approaches; anticipates and resolves communications/ public relations issues/problems.
  • Work with the DKT Lead Team to ensure concepts and proposals meet all the requirements of donors and align with the DKT Priority Framework.

  • Establish and maintain a database of stakeholders, service providers and donors used by the DKT
  • Carry out any other assignments given by Country Director

Working Relationships:

  • Internal: Interact on a regular basis with Lead team members, General Managers and Technical Advisors. Engage with and support DKT Ghana staff. Coordinate and consult with partners relating to DKT projects/programmes.
  • External: Interact with government aid agency donors, specialists / consultants, and other stakeholders where necessary.

Other Duties:

Position Objectives:

  • To contribute to achieving improved uptake of long acting and reversible family planning methods;
  • To contribute to achieving DKT CYP targets
  • To improve usage of modern family planning methods
  • To contribute to overall DKT program goals

Key Performance Indicators

  • Timely achievement of project deliverables
  • Quality of relationships with partners, stakeholders, and staff
  • Effective management of all meetings - including invites, agenda, note-taking and follow-ups
  • On-time management of key project deliverables
  • On-time delivery of all reports to STBF
  • Reports to CD receives not more than 1 round of feedback
  • Positive feedback from STBF on quality and sufficiency of project execution, project management, and reporting
  • Budget against expenditure on target
  • Attendance and feedback of annual Stakeholder events

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognition institution or its equivalent with a minimum of 4 years working experience.
  • A Master’s Degree in Project Management/Programmes or its equivalent with 3 years working experience.
  • Sufficient experience in report writing, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Prior experience developing and managing project workplans
  • Proven record of managing projects with a multifunctional team.
  • Track record of successful budget management.
  • Project Manager - must have extensive experience managing projects at senior level

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Have considerable knowledge in Market Research.
  • Must possess leadership and managerial qualities, effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members Of the project teams
  • Must possess knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes
  • Skillful in sound business case development and approvals skills
  • Must have a good understanding of the procurement process including negotiation with third parties
  • Must have a good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • Must be sufficient seniority and credibility to advise project teams on their projects in relation to the programme.
  • Must possess the ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
