Job Description

An International NGO in the AGRIC sector is seeking to engage an Assistant Farm Business Coordinator in Wa area. Applicants MUST be based at the indicated area.

  • Reports to: Farm Business Coordinator
  • Start Date: 1st August 2022
  • Contract End Date: March 2024
  • Contract Type: Full Time (Fixed Time)
  • Area of operation: Wa- Upper West Region and catchment areas.
Reporting relationships:
  • Reports directly to the Farm Business Coordinator (FBC).
  • Work closely with Farm Business Advisors
General Job Description

Under the direction of the Farm Manager and the direct supervision of the Farm Business Coordinators (FBC), the Assistant Farm Business Coordinator (AFBC) will help the FBC on their daily management of farm activities at the community levels and work closely with Farm Business Advisors (FBAs).

Key Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Support the Farm Business Coordinator to secure potential buyers, inputs suppliers and mechanization service providers
  • Support the Farm Business Coordinator in all farming activities such as land preparation, transplanting, fertilizer applications, and harvesting during the production season.
  • Support in nursery management to produce healthy seedlings
  • Support Farm Business Coordinator to keep accurate records on their activities at the community levels  
  • Support Farm Business Coordinator to ensure irrigation set up are properly functioning, and report immediately on breakages 
  • Ensure post-harvest losses are manage from the fields to the storage facilities
  • Mobilize farmers to be available for all farming activities and group meetings.
  • Ensure adequate safe keeping of farm tools and equipment and report any damage item immediately to supervisor.
  • Work with supervisors to facilitate the formation and monitoring of Village Savings and Loans Associations
  • Undertake SHF homes to monitor nutritional practices of households

Required Skills or Experience

  • Graduate with Diploma level in Agriculture or Agribusiness
  • At least 1 year work experience in crop productions.
  • Experience working in rural areas and with rural communities is an asset.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Has a valid driver’s license and owns a mode of transportation (motorbike)
  • Good spoken Waala and Dagari will be an advantage.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel proficient
