Proforest is a non-profit organisation with a global presence. Our head office is in the UK with regional offices in Malaysia, Indonesia, Ghana, Columbia, and Brazil. Proforest has established itself as a leader in the development and implementation of sustainable production and sourcing of natural resources, including timber and a range of agricultural commodities (eg. palm oil, soy, sugar etc), helping companies, governments, non-governmental and civil society organisations to achieve sustainable use of the world’s natural resources. 

Proforest provides practical support to producers, processors, purchasers and investors to help them meet their sustainability commitments. We work at every stage of the supply chain, from production and processing, through to purchasing and investment. Our experience covers the management of forests, oil palm, soy, sugarcane, rubber, beef and cotton at a range of scales that includes smallholders, communities and forest-dependent people through to multinational businesses. 

Proforest is made up of a non-profit arm (Proforest Initiative Africa) which focuses on long-term support for small producers and wider capacity building, particularly in developing countries and a consultancy arm (Proforest Limited) which provides direct support and services to the private sector companies

Job Description

Purpose
Proforest is seeking the services of an individual consultant with expertise in Microsoft Power BI and Smartsheet data integration.

• The consultant must have extensive knowledge and experience with setting up and maintaining multiple sheets connection between Smartsheet and Power BI for real-time updates, using scripts or API. 
• S/he must also understand how to create and implement custom reports and dashboards to support our project teams make insightful management decisions with project data.
• Additionally, s/he must be conversant with the best practices for data security and governance when integrating different data platforms.

• Understand Proforest’s Smartsheet workflows and Power BI visualisations, how these two platforms work together to produce custom reports/dashboards and the limitations of both platforms.
• Coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams from the finance office, projects and programmes to understand their reporting and data needs and incorporate them into the integration.
• Design and implement a data pipeline for extracting, transforming, and loading data from various sources and sheets into a database.
• Ensuring that the data is being pulled from Smartsheet into Power BI in real-time using API or custom scripts.
• Develop custom dashboards and reports in Power BI that pull data from Smartsheet in real-time.
• Test, monitor and optimise the data integration and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
• Document the data integration and data visualisation process and provide training to users.
• Establish relationships between data and develop tabular and multidimensional data models.
• Perform DAX queries and functions in Power BI
• Redefining changes to improve existing business intelligence systems 

Required Skills or Experience

• 2-3 years of experience in data-related roles
• Advanced working knowledge and experience with Power BI and Smartsheet
• Excellent understanding of BI and data visualisation
• Technical skills in SQL, Python or R to automate the manual process with data extraction and manipulation are required.
• A demonstration or examples of similar exercises done in the past.
• Experience in working with data from various sources and accounting platforms like Smartsheet, Sage, Salesforce and Concur is desirable.
