Job Description

Our client, a fintech company has immediate employment for a self-motivated, experienced and talented RISK AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER to help with their operations.

ROLE PROFILE

The successful candidate will direct and oversee the company's day-to-day risk and compliance management, including driving and directing compliance in each business and support function. He or she will also be responsible for implementing and maintaining ongoing improvement of effective risk and regulatory compliance programs, consistent with the Bank of Ghana requirements, scheme compliance programs, Anti Money Laundering (AML) policies and regulations.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support with delivery of key elements of the risk and compliance program activities (including implementation of risk and compliance framework for example, risk assessments, control testing, AML/CTF training, regulatory reviews and obligations register) ensuring the respective deadlines are met.
  • Provide support to the regulatory compliance function and be responsible for coordinating regulatory reporting activities and ensuring reporting timeframes are being met.
  • Identify log and monitor risk and compliance issues, proactively partner with the business to complete remediation work through to completion within the required deadlines and produce regular metrics and program status updates as and when needed.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects monitoring tasks and regulatory change initiatives.
  • Promote a good risk and compliance culture and assist the business in complying with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Determine regulatory reporting of events, prepare reports, communicate to the regulatory authorities, and ensure filing within the required timeframe to BoG and Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).
  • Escalate high-priority issues as well as identified business risks to the appropriate management level with managing risks relating to payments.
  • Provide support and advice to the business to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and other applicable international regulations including delivering the firm’s compliance program.
  • Validate and report any suspicious transactions through reports and raise suspicious activity report (SAR) / Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) wherever required with the FIC.
  • Undertake one-off reviews, deep dives and assessments of business line compliance, particularly with new regulatory obligations.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for specific areas of regulation providing support and guidance on requirements and overseeing the firm’s control environment.
  • Support the risk and compliance team in other functions as needed which includes reviewing cross-border guidelines and preparing board and senior management reporting as well as conducting client contract reviews.
  • Assist in performing monitoring and surveillance reviews when we have identified and mitigated any compliance risks or gaps identified.
  • Support business and support units in completing their risk assessments (RAs) for processes, new changes and initiatives.
  • Ensure that appropriate risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) reviews are done in a timely manner.
  • Support business and support units in reporting their incidents and losses.
  • Provide and facilitate training and awareness to staff across the company.

Required Skills or Experience

  • BSc/BA in law, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years experience as a risk and compliance manager.
  • A compliance qualification would be a distinct advantage.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a work record with a particular preference for accounting, legal and Risk/Compliance background.
  • Experience working within a regulatory framework is desirable.
  • Experience working in risk or compliance review or monitoring roles, reviewing regulations and ensuring control is in place to adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Good PC skills (Microsoft Excel and Word essential – PowerPoint useful).
  • Good report writing and presentation skills.
  • Focused attitude to work with the ability to constantly meet deadlines while ensuring attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the appetite to learn and develop skills as both the business and the regulatory environment evolves.
  • Self-starter. Ability to drive forward work plan under little supervision
  • High standard of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills.
