Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supervises and co-ordinates activities of cooks and other staff engaged in food preparation.
  • Prepares food on a regular basis and for functions.
  • Collaborates with other personnel to plan and develop recipes and menus, taking into account such factors as seasonal availability of ingredients and the likely number of customers.
  • Determines how food should be presented and creates decorative food displays.
  • Determines production schedules and staff requirements necessary to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Estimates amounts and costs of supplies, such as food and ingredients.
  • Inspects supplies, equipment and work areas to ensure conformance to established standards.
  • Instructs cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food.
  • Monitors sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
  • Order or requisition of food items and other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation.
  • Inspects the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
  • Checks the quantity and quality of received products.
  • Performs cost calculations.
  • Trains apprentices.
  • Communicates with guests.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by Management.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Relevant Field
  • 3-5 years experience
  • Should be in Tema and its environs
