Job Description

Job Purpose
The Resource Geologist will provide Mineral Resource and Grade control estimation & modelling support to the MRM department. The incumbent will also assist with Geology database and QAQC management in both exploration and mining chain.

Primary Accountabilities (Responsibilities & Duties)

  • Undertake all Resource and Grade Control modelling work and data analysis as required including but not limited to – Lithology and structural models, material type models – oxide, transitional, sulphide, geotechnical modelling, Au & S recovery models.
  • Provide daily update of geology database files (Diamond, RC & GC) for all CNML Operations through scheduled tasks, batch scripting and providing reports/queries and database development improvement as required in gaps analysis for data reliability.
  • Provide recommend updates or changes to the Resource modeling processes to improve quality and efficiency and to ensure any modifications are consistently implemented and documented.
  • Monitor regulatory compliance with respect to mineral resource and mineral reserve estimates and public reporting. (JORC 2012, NI 43-101, SAMREC, etc)
  • Provide vital structural models for geotechnical support.
  • Assist in the evaluation of Mine-Mill reconciliation cycle and report on the discrepancies between Resource and Grade Control Models.
  • Works closely with both Exploration, Mining Geologist, Mine planning and other engineers for the efficient development of Resource, Mining planning and maximalization of profitable extraction and recovery.
  • Performs any other related duties based on the exigencies of the Mine as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

Educational

  • Unviersity Degree in Geology, Geological Science, Earth Science or relevant discipline

Experience

  • ​Minimum 5 years working experience in a similar role.
  • A proven track record in gold mining operations as well as exploration experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong Geological software and modelling skills in Leapfrog and Datamine (This is an essential skill requirement)
  • Thorough understanding of Safety Management Systems.
  • Sound knowledge of risk management and loss prevention processes.
  • Strong presentation, organizational and communication skills.
  • Valid Ghanaian Driver’s license and proficiency in driving.
  • Strong capability in utilizing Geostatistics and variography for mineral resource estimation.
  • Familiar with external reporting standards (JORC 2012, NI43-101, SAMREC).
  • Experience and exposure across different geological settings and styles of mineralization with much focus on the green stone belt.
  • Very good computer skills in Microsoft office tools and database management.
  • Knowledge of using Micomine, MapInfo, or MPR will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrates strong conceptual skills and be capable of developing lateral and practical solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving and technical reporting skills and writing technical reports.
  • AUSIMM/AIG / SAIMM / WAIMM affiliated or similar industry member.
