Ghana is among strategic countries to realize success of the EWS 5-years strategy. This resulting a need to set up a marketing team with a focus on Sales promotion in Ghana.

Job Description

  • Locations: Volta and Greater Accra
  • Reporting line: Reporting to Business Development Manager-Ghana
 
Job overview and responsibilities
  • The main purpose of this role is to promote East West Seed brand, seed products and provide agronomic  support , primarily to vegetable farmers and other stakeholders of the horticulture industry in Ghana.
  • Among other responsibilities including relationship building and coordination with on-ground teams of East west Knowledge Transfer (EWS-KT) and Meridian Seeds and Nurseries Gh. LTD (MSN).
Key deliverables :
  1. Periodically, Identification and keep record of vegetable farming communities in the region assigned.
  2. Mapping out and documenting farming seasons per crop.
  3. Organize and conduct pre-planting meetings to train farmers on good agricultural practices which best fit their production needs.
  4. Identification and maintain of potential sites for crop demonstration plots in the region.
  5. Prepare and submit a budget for demonstration plots and other requirements in His/Her region.
  6. Plant and manage demonstration plots by applying good agricultural practices as in East West Seed protocols and guidelines and ensure to reach the target of demo plots allocated to him/her.
  7. Plan and conduct Farmers’ field days as per laid protocols and target.
  8. Regularly visit agro-dealer network in the region to understand their needs, challenges, support required.
  9. Plan and conduct  agro-dealer training
  10.  Working closely with government officials, extension workers and value chain supporters to promote EWS products and brand.
  11. Conduct market test trials of new products advanced by Product Development and provide feedback to management about the market response.
  12. Playing active role in collection of competitor's data-based products, retail price, distribution network, and any promotion activities conducted by competitors.
  13. Actively  participate  in  linking farmers  to agro-dealers for EWS products purchase
  14. Merchandising EWS products in major agro-shop to entice visibility by farmers
  15. Generate monthly work plans  and submit in a timely manner
  16. Submit reports on a weekly basis and generate a monthly report at the end of each month and submit as per laid protocol and format.
  17. Take responsibility for all company property issued under his/her custody (e.g. cell phones, Motorcycle, etc.)
  18. Close  coordination  &  open  communication  with  PD  Personnel, EWS-KT employees and MSN Reps in the field in assigned respective areas.
  19. Any other duties as assigned by the Business Development Manager-Ghana.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Academic Diploma in agriculture/ applied agricultural Extension / Horticulture / Agronomy or any relevant crop science related disciplines from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in crop protection, crop science, or soil science from a similar or related industry.
Skills and Abilities
  • Results oriented and demonstrate good technical skill in vegetable farming.
  • Driving skills and holder of a valid driving licence
  • Demonstrates good computer skills, competent in MS Office and Google Workspace.
  • Can communicate effectively in English (speak and write)
  • Willingness for extensive working travel in farming communities.
  • Willingness to work independently with minimum supervision
