Job Description

Job Summary:  The Finance and Administrative Specialist is responsible for the provision of accounting and finance support by managing accounts payable, accounts receivable (including preparation of invoices), G/L account reconciliations and analysis, Assist with proposal budget and tracking of program budget against actual, review of staff expense reports and transaction entries  in accounting system. 

Required Skills or Experience

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare invoices, payment requests and vouchers ensuring that they are duly signed by the authorized staff and issue checks.
  • Maintain the office’s books of accounts and record the office’s transactions in accordance with Ghana Accounting Standards and the established accounting policies and procedures of GFUSA
  • Prepare and submit the monthly reports/schedules to the Head Office, including bank reconciliation statements, trial balance, and financial statements
  • Supervise bank related issues including deposits and withdrawals
  • Maintain all necessary records and documentation of transactions
  • Prepare all necessary returns/reports for income tax withheld and any registration renewals
  • Assist the external auditors in the year-end audit of the financial statements by preparing schedules or accounting reports needed
  • Establish and maintain effective accounting internal controls to mitigate instances of fraud
  • Prepare payroll computation, including all required withholdings and payroll and deductions register, and enter corresponding journal entries
  • Prepare pay slips and remittance forms for statutory payments to respective government agencies
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports and file with appropriate government agencies
  • Review staff travel expense reconciliations.
  •  Assist with proposal budget and tracking of program  budget against actual
  • quarterly review and update asset register with Office/HR Manager and IT Specialist
  • Accurately file all finance and admin documents
  • Monthly scan all A/P and other finance documentation and saved in box
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep commitment to eradication of poverty and alignment with Grameen Foundation’s mission
  • Strong expertise in Word and Excel along with general Windows applications;
  • Manage and utilize accounting information systems; Dynamics Great Plains and QuickBooks preferred;
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally with all staff members and outside vendors;
  • Great communication skills and someone that is willing to learn on the job;

Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Accounting or other business or related field preferred;
  • 3-5 years of related experience.  Additional extensive related practical experience may be substituted for the formal education.
