Project:  Strengthening the Care Continuum Project in Ghana

Duties and Responsibilities

• The Advocacy and Policy Advisor is a full time position based in Accra.
• The Advisor will assist the Technical Lead/Advisor of Continuum of Care Team to engage community and facility partners, and improve the quality of clinical care, treatment and support services for key populations and people living with HIV.
• The priority focus of this position will be developing and maintaining a strong relationship with the Government of Ghana and key national level stakeholders.Tasks include:
  • Provide subject matter expertise/technical assistance on policy implementation, strategic planning and governance issues related to HIV/AIDS, KPs, and capacity strengthening;
  • Develop training curricula and other learning resources and deliver technical assistance related to policy and advocacy, leadership, governance, and service delivery;Work hand-in-hand with the project’s Senior HIV/AIDS Technical Advisor to ensure the uptake and roll-out of national level policies;
  • Develop and maintain strong networks with national Government of Ghana leadership;Work closely with the Ghana AIDS Commission and the Ghana Health Services/National HIV/AIDS/STI Control Programe; Collaborate with the project team, specifically the Continuum of Care Team, to achieve key project objectives;Support the development of project technical reports as needed.

Required Skills or Experience

• Master's degree in social sciences or related degree;
• Minimum of 15 years of increasingly responsible professional experience;
• Extensive experience in research and policy-level analysis;
• Demonstrated experience working with the Government of Ghana and National level stakeholders;
• Substantial experience in applying a policy and advocacy perspective to project design and building capacity of others to do so;
• Experience working with and supporting a wide range of HIV and AIDS projects and programs, such as combination prevention, PMTCT and VMMC;
• Excellent writing and presentation skills;
• Fluency in English language.
