Communication for Development (C4D) Impact Evaluation
The communication for Development (C4D) project seeks to address some leading maternal and child health issues through increasing awareness of common health problems in Ghana and inducing positive behavior change through advocacy, social mobilization, and behavior change communication (BCC). This program has been developed to promote five best practices:
- Exclusive breast feeding for the first six months and complementary feeding from six months
- Hand washing with soap, most importantly at key times
- Sleeping under an insecticide treated net
- Treating diarrhea using ORS and zinc
- Birth delivery by a skilled attendant
Position Summary
- IPA seeks project field staff to perform the role of Team Leaders for a period of 7 weeks and will assist in administering in-depth interviews to Households.
- This position is temporary and will be based in Tamale, Tolon/Kumbungu, Savelugu/Nanton in the Northern Region, Wa Municipal, Jirapa and Sissala East in the Upper West Region, Bolgatanga Municipal, Bongo and Builsa districts in the Upper East Region.
Job Description
The Team Leader reports directly to the Field Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all the Surveyors at a field station, manage their work, and ensure that they are all following IPA survey protocols;
- Ensure sufficient surveys, supplies and forms for surveyors including respondent gifts;
- Verify that Surveyors have interviewed the right respondents;
- Track surveys and other field expenditures, conduct back checking and editing activities of each team using tracking forms accurately and consistently, and give daily updates to the Field Supervisor and /or Field Manager.
- Do frequent and random spot checks in the field in order to monitor surveyors and assess their quality of work;
- Monitor the condition of survey equipment assigned to the teams;
- Solve and report all problems with team immediately to the Field Supervisor and Field Manager.
- Promptly respond to contact from the IPA Field Supervisor, Field Manager, or other IPA staff.
- Be responsible for maintaining good relations with IPA, its employees, partner organizations and project participants.
- Perform other duties related to the project that may be assigned to him/her.
Required Skills or Experience
- Must have an HND, first degree or its equivalent from a reputable institution
- Familiarity with surveyCTO, blaise or odk software
- Should be fluent in English
- Should be fluent and able to translate a questionnaire in any of the required local languages.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work to meet deadlines in multiple tasking environments
- Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must have at least 1year experience in Household Field Data Collection
- Must have an experience in managing a team
- Must have residency in any one of the project municipality/distric
