Job Description

World Vision Ghana (WVG) is looking for a highly qualified, proactive, motivated and resourceful person to fill the position of Wash Software & Behavioral Change Coordinator.

WASH SOFTWARE & BEHAVIOURAL CHANGE COORDINATOR 
To ensure sustainable water, sanitation service delivery and improved hygiene and sanitation behavior change practices by providing leadership for innovative planning, implementation, coordination, harmonization and accurate/reliable reporting on the software components of the GI-WASH Program. This largely covers community development, capacity building, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, including updating of the GIS Database of WASH software services.


The Package

  • The position is based in Savelugu, Northern Region with some level of domestic travel. 
  • The position comes with an attractive salary package. 
  • S/He reports to the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Annual Work plans and budgets for software activities that reflect SMART activities and relevant objectives in sufficient detail 
  • Plan for the implementation of measures and interventions that promote sustainability, inclusive WASH (disability, Gender, other vulnerable groups) and Multiple Water Use.
  • Develop and implement innovative approaches and strategies for community participation and ownership, Behaviour Change and enhanced sanitation and hygiene outcomes
  • Coordinate hygiene education and sanitation promotion activities by Area Programs using appropriate approaches and tools e.g. PHAST, CLTS, SLTS, DBC, F-Diagrams
  • Coordinate periodic/regular Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning of WASH in project communities (Monthly/Quarterly) using common data collection tools
  • Assess the capacity needs of staff and plan/facilitate coordinated tailor made training programmes for Area Programs including community mobilisation, Water and Sanitation Management, Hygiene and Sanitation/CLTS, Facilitation Skills, Operation and Maintenance Management of Water and Sanitation services, and Monitoring and Evaluation of Water and Sanitation Systems.
  • Plan and facilitate Training of Trainers Workshop for in relevant themes/modules.
  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships to support the implementation of project activities and for the development of the WASH sector. Key partners in this regard include but not limited to the District Assembly, Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Ghana Health Service, Ghana Education Service, CONIWAS, Ghana Water Forum, UNICEF, Environmental Health and Sanitation Directorate, Ministry of Water Resources Works and Housing, Water Resources Commission, Universities and Research Institutions.
  • Develop tools to be used by Area Programs to collect data on activities, outputs and outcomes for analysis and reporting on regular basis

Required Skills or Experience

  • Degree in Public Health, Development Studies, Planning, or other relevant Social Sciences; Master’s Degree is a plus
  • A thorough understanding of hygiene and sanitation promotion and community participatory and behavior change approaches ( e.g. PHAST, CLTS, C4D, DBC, etc)
  • At least 5years of experience in WASH software and Behavioral Change or related work
  • Experience in the following areas would be a strong advantage: Use of GIS and data analysis software

Critical Competencies

  • Demonstrable familiarity of the WASH sector and the policy environment for WASH in Ghana
  • Ability to conceptualize community development and capacity building strategies/initiatives for WASH
  • Ability to plan, support, facilitate and coach staff
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills
  • A thorough understanding of hygiene and sanitation promotion and community participatory and behaviour change approaches ( e.g. PHAST, CLTS, C4D, etc)
  • Strong experience in community development work
  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks with a wide range of complexity 
  • Experience in interaction with local authorities and NGOs. 
  • Computer literacy including use of GIS and data analysis software. 
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use both quantitative and qualitative data in program design and reporting
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license. (Grade B)
