PROJECT COORDINATOR

LOCATION: Tamale

CATEGORY: Programming

Our client, an international humanitarian agency committed to support the less privileged is currently seeking to hire the services of a responsible PROJECT COORDINATOR to support their operations in the northern part of Ghana

ROLE PROFILE

The successful candidate will lead a team of Wash Community mobilization and Monitoring Evaluation Specialist as well as Field Officers for intervention that will improve the year-round access of safe water supply and improvement in the sanitation and hygiene practices in schools and communities.

DUTIES

  • Ensure optimal project quality and sufficient delivery of project activities base on senior management decisions.
  • Provide dynamic leadership, technical support and team coordination to the project team and implementing partners
  • Represent the project at the district, regional and nationally to Government, decentralized authorities NGOs, private sectors
  • Develop and lead successful networking of service providers engaged in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector.
  • Ensure security and efficient management of all project resources, equipment and documentation linked to the project.
  • Provide effective reporting interface with stakeholders at the Regional and District level.
  • Participate in the recruitment and evaluation of consultants and contractors for the project within the framework of the organization’s policies and national regulations.

MANAGEMENT/ADMINISTRATION

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of program finances and progress status, review actual financial performance against the budget, and explain variances on the regular basis.
  • Manage project budgets including tracking of financial and material resources.
  • Ensure staff compliances with all administrative and operational procedures and policies as well as applicable donor regulations
  • Approve project expenditures, budget adjustments, and cost modification requests too donors.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

  • Conduct periodic reviews on staff performance in keeping with organization’s performance management system and mentor staff to ensure high level of motivation, commitment, capacity and teamwork.
  • Assist the Program Manager to lead, manage and supervise organization’s team and consortium staff to meet program objective.

REPRESENTATION / ADVOCACY

  • Provide overall leadership and oversight to the project implementation, ensuring that partners and field staff adhere to their assigned scopes of work and memorandum of understanding.
  • Act as primary project contact and representative, taking responsibility for addressing all program matters, collaborating with the organization’s country representatives.
  • Strengthening linkages with existing and potential partner agencies, in collaboration with country representative, Head of Programming and the Program Manager.
  • Ensuring all members of the project implementation team work cooperatively and productively to achieve project objectives.
  • Oversee program communication strategies in collaboration with country representative and head of programming including compliance with donor branding and marketing requirement as well as communication procedures.

Required Skills or Experience

REQUIREMENT

  • Knowledge of research methodology and dissemination
  • Experience in international development projects planning, monitoring and evaluation, at a supervisory level.
  • Proven knowledge and first relationship with CWSA at the Regional, District and Sub-District levels.
  • Ability to build and motivate diverse and talented teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, cultural sensitivity, ability to work with people, good judgement and commitment to the organization’s mission
  • Proven track record in building relationships with governmental organizations, private sector and community organizations required.
  • Strong leadership skills, including strategic thinking, problem solving, effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven analytical skills, demonstrated creativity in analysis of situations and data
  • Proven team coordination skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills
  • Proven experience in managing consortium or partnerships relationship in participatory way required
  • Strong computer skills (Word Excel, Internet)
  • Willingness to travel in-country and internationally as required by the Agency
  • Public relation skills required

     QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in Civil engineering or related field
  • Postgraduate / specialized training in Water, hygiene and sanitation water resources management or other related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years progressively increasing supervisory responsibility and technical experience in WASH facilities quality delivery and contract management.
