Job Description

  • Location: Western and Central Regions
  • Reporting to: Site Engineer and BBS Construction Programme Manager

Main Role / Purpose

  • The Site Manager will work closely with the Site Engineer to monitor and quality assure the site works carried out within the charity's infrastructure improvement programme. This is a professional role which requires planning ability and organisational skills within a engineering environment. 
  • The role will also give exposure to working with Arup, the global engineering firm, which is one of Sabre's corporate partners.

Main Responsibilities

  • The role involves locations around the Western and Central Regions at Sabre construction sites.  The Site Manager will be responsible for the procurement, site management, warehousing, stock records and financial planning and management to aid the delivery of the construction project to the standards set by Sabre. 

Under the supervision of the Site Engineer and Construction Programme Manager, the Site Manager has the following duties:

Procurement 

  • Planning the purchasing of the material for the construction site
  • Maintaining records for the control of the money
  • Following Sabre 3 vendor procurement rules
  • Maintaining accounts and returning monthly accounts to Sabre accountants 

Logistics and Warehousing 

  • Maintaining stock records and material control
  • Controlling material in and out and ensuring material used for purpose 
  • Logistics management of assets such as tools and vehicles 

General

  • Deputising for the Site Engineer in his absence.
  • Maintaining order and discipline on the site.

Health, Safety & Environment
To ensure that site health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented on every project site.

Reporting

  • To keep a daily diary of events including work done, issues arising and material movements  
  • To complete a weekly update to the Site Engineer on a Friday
  • To complete a monthly report on procurement, in the format provided, by the 3rd of the following month and return with receipts
  • To demonstrate the warehousing log sheets when asked by Sabre management. 

Performance Review
Every two months a formal review process will be carried out by the Construction Programme Manager, to assess knowledge transfer and competency. On satisfactory completion of the six month attachment, and a subject to a strong rating in a performance and attitude review involving the Construction Programme Manager and Sabre Country Director, a full time offer of employment could be made.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Minimum HND in Civil Engineering or associated topic
  • Previous experience in managing stock and logistics 
  • Ghanaian national
  • Dynamic self-starter, able to work to pre-defined targets on own initiative
  • Good communication, organisational and prioritisation skills
  • IT skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, and AutoCAD required
  • Strong team player, but must have the ability to work independently
  • Commitment to the aims and objectives of the Sabre Charitable Trust.
