Job Description

MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Provide expertise in developing sustainable sanitation businesses in Ghana.
  • Identify needs, opportunities, gaps, and challenges in potential sanitation markets, models, and entrepreneurs, and provide mentoring and support to sanitation businesses.
  • Oversee the management of market assessments, feasibility studies and business planning processes.
  • Build the capacity of local business development service providers where necessary to provide professional and sustainable service for emerging sanitation businesses.
  • Engage with the innovative business development service strategy and continue to search for new sanitation business opportunities within Ghana.
  • Participate in the design of service and product delivery strategies which will be based on evidence.

EXTERNAL RELATIONS

  • Engage with all stakeholders including regional and district authorities, government agencies to understand and if necessary to identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Build trust and relationships with key local entrepreneurs, and gain an understanding of the private sector in Ghana.

INTERNAL RELATIONS

  • Communicate regularly with project staff in country to share lessons learned and project updates.

ADMINSTRATION

  • Ensure the technical inputs and oversight are provided and made into activities and the programs in collaboration with the project team and partners
  • Document successes and failures, and share knowledge internally and externally.
  • Support the reiterative learning process aimed at developing and documenting improvements.

Required Skills or Experience

  • More years’ experience in a relevant position.
  • Degree in Public Health, Marketing, or Behavioral/Social Sciences.
  • Experience in the Water and Sanitation Sector.
  • Strong experience with social accountability approaches to improve service coverage, quality and equity.
  • Experience in Sales and Marketing, quality improvement and/or data analysis and use;
  • Ability to build partnerships across technical sub-divisions and manage integrated approaches to programme implementation.
  • Strong skills in research design and implementation.
  • Evidence of excellent writing skills (e.g. publication record)
  • Technologically competent in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats;
  • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in English (required);
  • Experience with USAID contracts.
  • Must be risk taker, and have a flair for entrepreneurial opportunities.
  • Ability to build partnerships and manage teams.
  • Ability to communicate at the top level with professional organizations
