Job Description

  • Position Title:  CURE Clubfoot (CC) Counseling Coordinator (non CURE Hospital Country)
  • FLSA Status:  Exempt
  • Reports to:  CURE Clubfoot Program Manager operationally, CC Regional Program Officer for Counseling functionally
  • Supervises:  CURE Clubfoot volunteer clinic counselors (in assigned country)
  • Frequency of Travel:  Approx. 30% 
  • Department:   CURE Clubfoot

 

POSITION OVERVIEW
The CURE Clubfoot Counseling Coordinator will provide direction and oversight to the counseling ministry of CURE Clubfoot as we work to eliminate clubfoot as a disabilty while fulfilling the mission of CURE International Inc. to heal the sick and proclaim the Kingdom of God.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Management and Administration

  1. Manage the Counseling activities of the national clubfoot program within the approved annual budget and strategic operational plan.    
  2. Undertake regular planning and program review with the CC Program Manager and in cooperation with the CC Regional Program Officer for Counseling.  
  3. Provide regular reports on counseling ministry to the CC Program Manager, CC Regional Program Officer for Counseling, and incountry and other identified partners within the agreed upon and established timeframes and report formats. 
  4. Facilitate ongoing training, workshops and seminars for counselors
  5. Actively monitor counseling reports as forwarded by clinic coordinators, and address any issues or concerns. 

Relationships and Partnerships

  1. Actively develop and maintain partnerships with relevant evangelical organizations and entitites to ensure local ownership of, and commitment to, the CC program.    
  2. Actively work with CC Program Manager and CC Regional Program Officer for Counseling to ensure collaboration and alignment of activities.    
  3. Provide support and encouragement to each clinic counselor.
  4. Liaise (at least monthly) with each clinic counselor to assess parent counseling program, and assist in solving any challenges, seeking appropriate support from the CC Program Manager and/or Regional Program Officer for Counseling, as needed. 
  5. Create and educate networks for sensitization, awareness raising, early detection and patient referral
  6. Create and educate networks to support patient treatment, follow up and compliance
  7. Prepare case stories for donors and other stakeholders

Supplies/Logistics

  1. Facilitate counselor access to relevant faith based literature, books and bibles
  2. Assist with logistics, monitoring and support to clinic teams

Financial

  1. Provide advice on counseling program annual budgetary needs to the CC Program Manager.
  2. Provide advice on counseling program quarter budgetary needs to the CC Program Manager, to incorporate into quarter spending requests.

Required Skills or Experience

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Degree, Diploma or Certificate in a relevant area such as Social Work, Psychology, Theology, Pastoral Studies.
  2. Fluency in English, as well as one of the predominant languages in the region.
  3. Minimum of three (3) years experience in social work, counseling or pastoral role
  4. Previous supervisory and management experience.

  1. Passionate about the mission and statement of faith of CURE International
  2. Demonstrated ability to provide counseling services
  3. Demonstrated ability to motivate people and work effectively in teams and partnerships with a diverse group of stakeholders
  4. Demonstrated initiative and able to work semi-independently and solve problems
  5. Good interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  6. Demonstrated computer based skills, including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and email
