Job Description

  • Immediate Superior    -Chief Executive Officer

  • Associates        -Heads of Departments/Branch Managers, Other Employees, Clients, Etc

Objective of the Position:

  • Management of operations within the Sales & Marketing department, handling and maintaining existing clients’ accounts, developing new business accounts (shipping industry, clearing, exports, projects and logistics, vessel agency and husbandry, etc) sourcing for businesses for the Company (both sea and air) and working at retaining clients.
  • Coordinate with the Clearing & Forwarding Manager for all documentations and clients’ related database. To ensure the smooth operations of documentation duties and clients’ satisfaction through prompt and efficient service as per the required standards of the Company and regulatory or statutory procedures in the industry.
  • Coordinate with other departments and/or branches to offer efficient services to clients and submit required reports or data promptly.
  • Promote of Company’s services (i.e. both air and ocean) to clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Development and actualization of marketing and sales plans.
  • Plans new product development and launches on the Company’s behalf.
  • Responsible for the product promotion activities of the Company.
  • Reviews the marketing and sales plans of the Company.
  • Management of client relationships (including giving them timely updates and related information of their consignments) and address clients’ problems and/issues professionally and promptly.
  • Management of Sales and Marketing team under your charge to ensure the smooth discharge of assigned clients jobs.
  • Supervise sales activities and after sales services to clients.
  • Organize regular departmental staff meetings to discuss job related issues.
  • Be abreast with trends in the industry and make suggestions for improvement of the Sales & Marketing operations.
  • Attend job related seminars, conferences, meetings or delegate as the case may be to enhance your field of work.
  • Carry out regular orientations or on-the-job trainings for Sales & Marketing team as per agreed standards.
  • Preparation of department’s weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc, operational plan and budgets.
  • Submit updates, reports and administrative requirements on daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc basis to your Superior and other managers who have need of the information.
  • Ensure that all reports, proposals and other documents required by the Chief Executive Officer are presented on time.
  • Be confidentiality, anti-bribery, health, safety, and environmentally conscious in the discharge of assigned duties.
  • Perform other duties as and when necessary.

Activities

  • Sells and markets the products of the Company.
  • Develops and Implements Company Sales & Marketing plans.
  • Reviews and monitors the Sales & Marketing plans.
  • Modifies the plans to suit changing circumstances.
  • Supervises the activities Sales and Marketing Officers.
  • Liaison with Government Agencies to fulfill statutory obligations.
  • Posting of charges to Accounts for work done for billing for clients.
  • Coordination of employee related issues with the Human Resource, Administration & Archiving Department (for example recruitment, induction, report of sickness and absence, disciplinary action, training and development, etc).
  • Evaluation and modification of work flows within the department.
  • Assist with purchases of approved items and/or equipment as and when feasible.
  • Perform other administrative duties as and when necessary.

Authority

  • Limits of authority are according to the nature of the job and maintaining utmost confidentiality in dealing with records and business information.
  • Has control over Company documents, records, machinery and equipment needed for the performance of the job.
  • Has authority over staff and activities in the Sales Marketing department.

Required Skills or Experience

  • First Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Sales & Marketing/Port/Logistics/Shipping/Warehouse/Management Studies or other related discipline.
  • Master Degree.
  • Licenced Member of a recognized or certified Sales & Marketing Group
  • Experience of working in a similar role-minimum of five (5) years post qualification.

Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive knowledge in business development, port operations, logistics, shipping and warehouse management functions.
  • Understanding of basic accounting and other general fields in the relevant industry.
  • Submission of management reports, to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Knowledge and consciousness of secure internal controls and economic implications of breaches of controls in a logistics environment.
