Job Description

Reports to:  Security and Safety Assurance Supervisor

Position Summary/Job Goal

• Under the supervision of the Security & Safety Assurance Supervisor, the Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the LCS campus and residential units. 
• The security guard is responsible for ensuring all laid down security and safety procedures are adhered to in the course of duties. 

Key Responsibilities include:

• Ensure the safety and security of the School (students, staff, parents and other members of the community) while on campus or any other school facility.
• Conduct day and night security patrols of the school premises and school residential homes as directed by supervisor
• Ensure maximum security and safety of school premises during patrols and surveillance.
• Observe diligently and report any irregularities or breach of security through the appropriate laid down channels
• Guard the entry to school premises diligently and ensure all visitors to the campus meet all laid down security checks
• Restrain where necessary  trespassers using the appropriate laid down procedures
• Work side by side with contracted security guards and ensure the highest standards of security and surveillance are adhered to at all times
• Control school traffic and parking within laid down procedures. Ensure the highest standards of health and safety is maintained at all times
• To propose and implement appropriate systems under the direction of the Supervisor
• Contribute to any investigation of suspicious activities or safety and security violations, accidents, suspected thefts/losses and ensure appropriate records
• Responsible for keeping a  log book and activity reports
• Carries out security checks of persons on campus and school premises for identification, authorization, information and movements.
• Have an understanding of procedures for any type of emergency and respond in a timely manner to emergency events
• Any other duties commensurate with the role as may be assigned by supervisor.       

Required Skills or Experience

• A minimum of three years previous security guard experience
• Proven experience of night guard patrols
• Proven ability to work effectively with staff, students, parents, school administration and local law enforcement representatives.
• Good written and verbal communication 
• Ability to read and write proficiently

Qualifications

• SSS qualification or equivalent
• Qualification/training in security desirable
• Clean driving license ( Class C)

Conditions of work

• You will be required to work outside normal working hours.
• You will be required to work on a shift system
• Tasks are regularly performed with some risk of exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dust, humidity, rain, temperature extremes, traffic hazards and possible violence.
