Job Description

Our client, a global health organization with the aim of improving the health of people in developing countries is looking for a well-organized and a proactive Finance Officer to help with their operations in Ghana.

SCOPE OF WORK (MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES)

The Finance Officer (FO) will provide support and guidance to the organization’s programs by working with Program and Support staff with tasks related to accounting, banking, budgeting, and financial management to ensure full compliance with rules and regulations of USAID and the organisation’s financial processes, policies and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Enter sales invoices and receipt in QBE
  • Provide weekly and monthly sales revenue analysis report
  • Reconcile inventory balances of all site in QBE monthly
  • Review receivable balances weekly and follow up on creditors to fulfil their credit obligation as per contractual terms
  • Prepare the draft monthly financial certification report
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure organized, complete, properly approved packages are delivered to Washington on time
  • Provide support during the annual budgeting process
  • Provide assistance with internal or external audit requirements
  • Promote compliance with relevant USAID financial regulations and the organization’s policies/procedure
  • Review and provide support for the financial aspects of contract execution of Community Based Organization (CBO’s) partners
  • Verify accuracy and compliance of expenses and expense reporting by CBO’s
  • Represent Finance during bid evaluation during the procurement process
  • Provide departmental heads with analysis of the expenditure versus budget result monthly after the month end closure
  • Maintain control over the project filing systems to ensure complete and organized accounting files
  • Ensure that project expenditures are adequately tracked according to budget
  • Regularly prepare and present financial reports, analysis, and recommendations concerning relevant financial issues
  • Provision of high levels of customer service within the program
  • Provide support to the Team on any adhoc activity that may occur

Required Skills or Experience

Education/ Experience

  • Minimum of BSc in Administration/Accounting/Finance/Economics plus level 2 of ACCA/ICA
  • Or Masters in Finance/Administration with 3-5 years’ experience
  • Knowledge of USAID regulations is an advantage

Requirements

  • Must have working knowledge of QBE
  • Understanding of accounting processes and procedures
  • Must have experience in working with an NGO
  • Advanced competence in Microsoft application including excel modelling

Skills and Behavioral Competence

  • Must have good communication skills and interpersonal relation
  • Must be able to work overtime as may be required for timely delivery of task if necessary, as well as meet timeline for reporting
  • Must possess good organizational skills
  • Must be a person with a can-do attitude
  • Willingness to be taught

  • Must possess a high degree of integrity, accountability, energy and flexibility
  • Must exhibit demonstrated ability to roll up sleeves and work with team members
  • Must be efficient in delivering results while ensuring good quality and accuracy

  • Must work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals
