Job Description

• Installs and upgrades the database and application tools
• Allocates system storage and plans future storage requirements for the database system
• Creates primary objects (tables, views, indexes) once application developers have designed an application
• Modifies the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers
• Enrolls users and maintains system security
• Ensures compliance with license agreement
• Controls and monitors user access to the database
• Monitors and optimizes the performance of the database
• Plans for backup and recovery of databases
• Disaster Recovery Solutions

Required Skills or Experience

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science, ICT or related field preferred.
• At least 3 (three) years of relevant work experience in MS SQL Server and Oracle. 
• PostgreSQL is an added advantage.
• Relevant Professional certification is required.

TECHNICAL

• Ability to work and solve complex issues independently
• Experience in MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL
• Experience in Oracle Database
• Experience in Linux environment (Red Hat or Solaris)
• Analytical troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
• Detailed and results-oriented, yet able to meet tight deadlines
• Numeric reasoning and logic skills
