Project Overview:
The Quality Preschool for Ghana (QP4G) Study is a study being conducted by IPA, Ghana in partnership with researchers at New York University in the United States. The project aims to develop a cost-effective, scalable model of transformational training that would produce significant behaviour change in the largely untrained kindergarten teacher workforce. The participating municipals are La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal, Ga Central Municipal, Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal, Adentan Municipal, Ga South Municipal, and Ga East Municipal in the Greater Accra Region. IPA will be conducting the third round of follow up surveys in May/June 2018 across schools in the Greater Accra Region to assess the longer-term impacts of the interventions on children.

IPA would like to recruit Teacher Interviewers and Videographers to form part of the QP4G project team.

Job Description:
The QP4G Teacher Interviewer/Videographer is responsible for administering the various modules of the QP4G Follow-up III surveys and collecting the data according to IPA data collection protocols. The modules are Head Teacher Survey, Teacher Survey, and Classroom Observations (Environmental Scan and Videotaping).

Responsibilities:
As part of the responsibilities, the Teacher Interviewer/Videographer will:

  • Conducts in-person interviews with head teachers and teachers assigned by the Team Leader;
  • Conducts classroom observations by videotaping class sessions and taking inventory of classroom facilities.
  • Ensures that surveys are administered in an ethical, honest, and rigorous manner;
  • Adheres to all other IPA survey protocols;
  • Maintains confidentiality of data gathered;
  • Conduct back checks on administered surveys;
  • Prior experience in working with IPA evaluation projects in education;

Required Skills or Experience

The Teacher Interviewer/Videographer must satisfy the following requirements: 

  • A diploma certificate in any related field;
  • At least six months of experience in school-based data collection;
  • Experience in IPA survey activities and QP4G in-person interviews;
  • Experience in conducting classroom observations. Experience in conducting video surveys will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in working with Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI);
  • Strong good interpersonal skills for teamwork;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Residency in any one of the project municipals.
