Job Description

Project Overview:
The Quality Preschool for Ghana (QP4G) Study is a study being conducted by IPA, Ghana in partnership with researchers at New York University in the United States. The project aims to develop a cost-effective, scalable model of transformational training that would produce significant behaviour change in the largely untrained kindergarten teacher workforce. The participating municipals are La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal, Ga Central Municipal, Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal, Adentan Municipal, Ga South Municipal, and Ga East Municipal in the Greater Accra Region. IPA will be conducting the third round of follow-up surveys in May/June 2018 across schools in the Greater Accra Region to assess the longer-term impacts of the interventions on children.

IPA would like to recruit Field Supervisors to form part of the QP4G project team.

Job Description:
The QP4G Field Supervisor reports directly to the Field Manager and is responsible for the quality and progress of field activities. He/she plays a significant role in ensuring that work is carried out systematically and in accordance with prescribed IPA data collection protocols.

Responsibilities:
As part of the responsibilities, the Field Supervisor will:

  • Plan, coordinate, train, and supervise survey teams performing all modules of the QP4G Study in selected schools;
  • Assist in monitoring and assessing the quality of the work of survey teams, team leaders and interviewers;
  • Monitor the condition of survey equipment assigned to the interviewers;
  • Maintain team motivation and morale and foster team spirit;
  • Other tasks as will be assigned by the Research Associate/Field Manager.

Required Skills or Experience

The Team Leader must satisfy the following requirements: 

  • A diploma certificate in any related field;
  • At least one year of experience in school-based data collection;
  • Experience in the use of Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI).
  • Experience in supervising data collection activities involving multiple survey teams;
  • Knowledgeable about Microsoft Applications like MS Word and Excel;
  • Knowledgeable about the selected project municipalities.
