Job Description
Position Objective: To carry out cleaning duties in specified areas and time frames
Scope of Duties
- Ensure that all designated areas and equipment are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition according to manufacturers’ recommendations.
- Carry out cleaning tasks including dusting and polishing, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping, window cleaning, cleaning, sanitising and/or disinfecting showers and toilets.
- Carry out carpet cleaning with suitable chemicals and procedures (if applicable).
- Assist with container unloading of cleaning equipment and provisions.
- Comply with customer requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
- Ensure that any customer complaints are dealt with to the customer’s satisfaction or forwarded to your supervisor in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the replenishment of customer required supplies are made in advance of customer requirements and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure that good stock rotation procedures are followed (first in, first out) to minimize the wastage of commodities.
- Ensure that materials, such as chemicals, are used in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions (Example: dilutions, storage, harmful effects etc).
- Ensure that you understand the training given about handling chemicals used to carry out your duties.
- Ensure that the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
- Comply with all FM and client policies, procedures and standards, paying close attention to occupational health and ensure a healthy/safe and environmentally friendly working environment for yourself and other staff by adhering to the health/safety /environmental control measures implemented onboard.
- Report any unhealthy/unsafe/non-environmental acts or conditions to your supervisor as soon as possible.
- Ensure that defective equipment is reported to your supervisor.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas that will make the workplace healthier/safer more environmentally aware and more productive.
- Participate in training specific to your particular job description.
- Ensure regular communication is maintained with your chief steward in order that any issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Ensure you perform your duties to the standard indicated by your supervisor.
- Carry out other duties as requested by your supervisor that could further enhance the overall service and efficient running of the cleaning operation.
Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications
- Any related courses successfully completed would be an advantage
- Certificate of medical fitness
- Offshore survival training
Experience
- Experience in similar type of operation
- Demonstrated understanding of basic hygiene.
