Job Description

Music Teacher, BBS Children’s Foundation – Musical Village, Ada

The position’s primary responsibility is to create and execute a program to teach music to the students of BBS Children’s Foundation.  The position is part time and reports to the Operations Director.   BBS Children’s Foundation will provide the instruments, and the Music Teacher is responsible for their care and maintenance. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Support children’s artistic, emotional and social development, encouraging a positive self-image and respect for others
  • Teach the children piano, keyboard and guitar on scheduled days at the Musical Village in Ada 
  • Partner with the teachers of school subjects and the drumming and dancing teacher to create a schedule and program that integrates music instruction into the daily activities at the Musical Village 
  • Create a youth ensemble to perform at BBS Children’s Foundation functions and at external events
  • Ensure the musical instruments are stored properly and maintained in good condition 
  • Provide the Operations Director with a timely weekly report that details the programs and participation of the children
  • Assist the other teachers in the preparation of the monthly reports by providing information about each child’s activities, accomplishments and interests
  • Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in each child and bring them to the attention of the Operations Director
  • Personally perform at BBS Children’s Foundation functions and external events to be a role model for the children and an ambassador for the Foundation
  • Maintain the confidentiality of each child and all information
  • Show maturity in execution of duties assigned at a specific deadline
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Director
  • Maintain at all times the highest ethical standards, truthfulness and honesty. At no time will the Employee compromise BBS Children’s Foundation reputation or place the Foundation in a position to be liable for losses due to unethical practices.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Experience teaching piano and guitar to children
  • Experience creating youth ensembles for performance
  • Fluent in English and local language
  • Communication and organizational skills
  • Minimum high school graduate
