Oxfam aims to bring lasting solutions for poverty, and injustice in the Ghana. Oxfam has worked in Ghana since 1986 with the focus on bridging the gap between progress made in the north and south, sustainable agricultural livelihoods, free universal quality education and health care, and promoting accountable governance and transparency in natural resource revenue management
Background
Oxfam is implementing a project funded by the European Union working to end violence against women and girls in Ghana, Liberia and Mali.
The project aims to create an enabling environment for girls and women to know, claim and exercise their rights to end sexual and gender based violence. The action has a dual focus of 1) strengthening the institutional, technical and financial capacities of CSOs (including women’s associations and groups) through a Financial Support to Third Parties mechanisms (FSTP, or referred to as sub-granting); 2) challenge and change discriminatory social norms, attitudes and practices as a way to prevent sexual gender based violence (SGBV).
A communication and visibility plan which has been approved by the Steering Committee of the project and the European Union will set out a common framework for the three implementing countries to enable context specific but consistent communication about and for the project.
This communication and visibility plan will need to be implemented and monitored in all three countries. Ghana is responsible for ensuring the objectives are met in Ghana and the indicators are measured and reported on. The Project Management Unit (PMU) based in Ghana, is responsible for ensuring overall compliance to the communication and visibility guidelines of the EU as well as supporting the three countries to implement and monitor the actions planned in the plan.
Objectives
To provide support to the PMU in its role of ensuring the implementation and reporting on the communication plan, as well as compliance to EU communication and visibility guidelines and to support Ghana specifically in the country level communication activities.
