Job Description

Job Location : Greater Accra, Western, Eastern and Bono Regions

Job Purpose

Responsible for marking, cutting and bending of rebars using hand or power tools effectively, fabricating, placing and fixing reinforcement at the desired location using correct ties within specified time and tolerance

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

• Build and install iron or steel girders, columns, and other construction materials to form buildings, bridges, and other structures.
• Cut, position, and bolt down steel bars to reinforce concrete.
• Repair older infrastructure.
• Make, weld, and cut structural metal in fabricating shops.
• Erect steel frames.
• Direct operation of cranes to move structural steel, reinforcing bars, and other materials onto and around the construction site.
• Connect steel columns, beams, and girders.
• Drill holes into steel for bolts.
• Number steel according to assembly instructions.

Required Skills or Experience

• Three years' steel-bending experience or Completion of a three year technical training program in steel works.
• Any equivalent combination of experience or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities of steel works have been achieved.

• Knowledge of related tools, steel-bending techniques, equipment and materials to be used
• Skills in the construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance of steel structures and surfaces.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to promote the company’s brand image onsite
• Ability to make innovations, which affect this job and suggest changes to the immediate supervisor that is necessary to ensure efficiency and meeting of set goals 
• Ability to solve problems 
• Ability to manage time effectively and multi-task
