Job Description
Reports to: SFCS Principal
Main Purpose of Job:
- To deliver the National Curriculum of the class assigned & teach children on key subjects of Numeracy, Literacy, Science, Geography, History, Social Studies, RME, Citizenship, Ghanaian Language (Akuapem Twi).
- To maintain a positive, loving, and supportive environment in the classroom that motivates children to learn and to enjoy school.
- To impart Christian values and moral education to children and promote good behavior and discipline in the classroom.
- To impart to children an appreciation and respect for diversity in the world.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning Duties
- Plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
- Produce weekly lesson plans and termly curriculum schedules.
- Identify, develop, and use educational materials and resources in creative ways that accelerate learning.
- Organize the classroom and create displays to encourage a positive learning environment.
- Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, and support colleagues in the delivery of lessons when necessary due to absenteeism.
- Prepare homework for the children and mark/grade their work.
- Prepare and administer tests to assess students’ performance.
- Monitor and record students’ progress and educational attainment.
- Prepare mid-term and end of year progress reports.
Non-Teaching Duties
- Maintain regular communication and effective partnership with parents.
- Provide feedback on pupils’ progress at Parents/Teachers Conference.
- Support and contribute to the school’s extra-curricular activities and study support provision
- Undertake break, lunchtime and after school supervision in accordance with the staff duty rota.
- Participate in school events, outings and activities which may take place during weekends or evenings.
Required Skills or Experience
- A minimum degree in related field
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant teaching experience in XX subject/class
- Competency to deliver engaging practical lessons
- Possession of moral Christian character and values
- Ability to develop student character and encourage academic achievement
