Job Description

Reports to: SFCS Principal

Main Purpose of Job:

1. To deliver the National Curriculum of the class assigned & teach children on key subjects of Numeracy, Literacy, Science, Geography, History, Social Studies, RME, Citizenship, Ghanaian Language (Akuapem Twi).
2. To maintain a positive, loving, and supportive environment in the classroom that motivates children to learn and to enjoy school.
3. To impart Christian values and moral education to children and promote good behavior and discipline in the classroom.
4. To impart to children an appreciation and respect for diversity in the world.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching and Learning Duties

• Plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
• Produce weekly lesson plans and termly curriculum schedules.
• Identify, develop, and use educational materials and resources in creative ways that accelerate learning.
• Organize the classroom and create displays to encourage a positive learning environment.
• Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, and support colleagues in the delivery of lessons when necessary due to absenteeism.
• Prepare homework for the children and mark/grade their work.
• Prepare and administer tests to assess students’ performance.
• Monitor and record students’ progress and educational attainment.
• Prepare mid-term and end of year progress reports.

Non-Teaching Duties

• Maintain regular communication and effective partnership with parents.
• Provide feedback on pupils’ progress at Parents/Teachers Conference.
• Support and contribute to the school’s extra-curricular activities and study support provision
• Undertake break, lunchtime and after school supervision in accordance with the staff duty rota.
• Participate in school events, outings and activities which may take place during weekends or evenings.
