Overview
The Ghana SRHR Alliance for Young People, Women in Need (WIN) and the African Centre for Human Rights and Sustainable Development (AfCHuRSD), is implementing the Equal Rights and Opportunities (EROP Project) aimed at contributing to the realization of gender equality and opportunities for women and girls to live successful lives in Ghana in the Northern, North-East, Upper East, Upper West and Central Regions of Ghana. The Project Objectives include:

  • To contribute towards the elimination of SGBV in target communities in selected Districts by the end of September 2021.
  • To promote women and girls’ economic empowerment through livelihood and entrepreneurial skills development by the end of September 2021 in the EROP Project Districts.
  • To increase the capacities of Social Justice Institutions for enhanced delivery of services to women and girls by the end of September 2021 in the EROP Project Districts.
  • To contribute to an improved environment for women’s and girls’ participation in decision making by the end of September 2021 in Ghana.

An essential Objective of this project is to contribute to increased community awareness and action on equal rights and opportunities for women and girls, and also, forms of violence and discrimination against women and girls in the communities in which the EROP Project is being implemented by September 2021. In this regard, the project seeks to develop a Radio Drama which will be broadcast on Radio Stations in the Project Communities and an animation video which will be played on the different media platforms of partners.

As part of the documentation strategy to highlight the successes and challenges of the project and to serve as a tool to amplify the need to continue to prioritize interventions for the rights of women and girls’, the implementers of the EROP Project intend to produce a 10-minute video documentary. To accomplish this, the implementers of the EROP Project seek to obtain the services of a competent consultant or firm that will produce the documentary while working in close collaboration with staff to build internal capacity to contribute where possible, to the production of similar projects in the future.

Purpose of the Consultancy
The primary objective of this consultancy is to design and produce a documentary on: “Contributing to the Realization of the rights of Women and Girls’ in Ghana, the Highlights and Lessons Learnt from the Equal Rights and Opportunities Project.

Objectives of Consultancy Assignment
The objectives of the Assignment shall be;

  • Document real time stories from the EROP Project Districts of Nandowli-Kaleo, Jirapa, Ajumako/Enyan/Essiam, Gomoa West, Sagnerigu, Tamale, Bolgatanga, Gushegu, East-Mamprusi, Talensi and Kassena-Nankana.
  • To understand the roles and contributions of the different actors in the project towards helping women and girls achieve their rights.
  • To amplify the voices of women and girls on factors they would like to be put in place to contribute towards further attainment of their rights.
  • To develop and suggest appropriate recommendations to inform policy planning and development in the country for women and girls based on the interactions with the different actors involved in the project.

Scope and Focus of Assignment
The Consultant shall;

  • Develop the documentary overall concept and scenario.
  • Develop the documentary script and story board to be used in shooting and production of the documentary.
  • Conduct field visits of the project districts and interview women, girls, Social Justice Institutions, Chiefs, Teachers and other relevant stakeholders who contributed to the implementation of the EROP Project.
  • Perform appropriate video filming and shoot interviews with the projects’ major beneficiaries and stakeholders.
  • Present a draft documentary and share with the Acting Executive Secretary of the Ghana SRHR Alliance for Young People for review/comments.
  • Incorporate the comments and produce a final-10-minute documentary on the EROP Project.

Timeframe
The consultancy shall be for a duration of 15days from the date of signing the contract.  For avoidance of doubt, consultation meetings with the Ag. Executive Secretary of the Ghana SRHR Alliance for Young People shall not be treated as working days.

Working Arrangement
The Consultant shall be paid 40% of the total cost upon approval and signing the contract and the balance upon satisfactory production of the documentary.

Copy Right
All materials arising out of the Consultancy shall remain the property of the Ghana SRHR Alliance for Young People.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Must have 4 to 5 years proven experience in film production.
  • Extensive experience in producing development work related documentaries for organizations with the aim of reaching out to both local and international audiences.
  • Excellent technical capacities (Full High-Definition Video) to ensure high quality production.
  • Must be tax compliant.
  • Accurate current addresses i.e., physical, postal, telephones and email.
  • Additional experience in development communication will be an added advantage.

The Ghana SRHR Alliance for Young People will be responsible for:

  • Preparing the Terms of Reference (ToR).
  • Selecting, contracting and managing the Consultant.
  • Covering the costs of consultant and logistics associated with the assignment.
  • Actively engaging with the Consultant during the documentary shooting process.
  • Reviewing the draft documentary and providing feedback.

The Consultant will be responsible for:

  • Preparation of a technical and financial proposal, work plan and budget for the assignment.
  • Engage the EROP Project target beneficiaries and stakeholders throughout the assignment.
  • Provide updated draft/video documentary to the Ghana SRHR Alliance for Young People.
  • Produce deliverables in accordance with the requirements and timeframes outlines in this ToR.
