Job Description

Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere (CARE), Inc. doing business as CARE International in Ghana is seeking a talented, motivated and innovative Enumerators – Women for Change (W4C) Project. The Women for Change (W4C) Project with funding from Mars Wrigley is being implemented in Ghana by CARE International from October 2020 to September 2025 with the overall objective of "expanding the village savings and loan initiative in Mars' supplier cocoa communities to strengthen financial literacy, household savings, and income-generating activities for women. Available evidence suggests when cocoa-farming households gain access to financial skills and tools, women are able to engage in entrepreneurship and collective action, and gender equality is increased in cocoa-growing communities, then cocoa-farming households achieve economic resilience and improved livelihoods, directly contributing to achieving a living income. 

The objective of this study is to carry out a detailed baseline for impact and outcome indicators in the performance monitoring framework. This baseline will establish the current level or starting point of the various indicators (before situation) to be used to compare it with the Endline after the implementation of the project (situation after). This will allow us to assess the contribution of the project toward the achievement of the objectives of the project.

JOB PROFILE
The W4C project seeks to conduct a baseline study in the Western, Western-North, Central, and Eastern Regions of Ghana, in cocoa-growing communities. Data collection for the survey will use digital data collection applications such as the data collection Application on smart devices (Samsung Tablet Phones). 

Twelve (12) Enumerators will work directly with the Zonal Project Coordinators, District Project Assistants, and the CARE Ghana project team for the baseline survey. Enumerators shall report to the MEAL Specialist for the Women for Change Regional Expansion.

The baseline will take place in two regions: Western Region and Western-North Region, specifically Amenfi West and Aowim, Asawinso and Elluokrom respectively.

Some Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • Attend the all-training program
  • Study the questionnaire(s) carefully and participate in questionnaire translation. 
  • Attain consent for all interviewers and photos taken during the survey interviews. 
  • Participate in the pre-test of the questionnaire(s) and document all findings & recommendations for any changes to the questions
  • Developing and maintaining a good rapport with the respondents and community members
  • Being a good representation of CARE International in Ghana in the communities 
  • Enumerate the community member(s) on the designated days
  • Submit all completed forms in the Kobo Collect Application at the end of each day
  • Ensure that the entire area assigned to you is covered 
  • Participate in team review meetings
  • Communicate complaints and feedback regarding survey to the CARE project Team 

Required Skills or Experience

Knowledge
Knowledge and experience in using digital data collection tools is desirable

Experience
Experience in conducting data collection for surveys

Competencies

  • Must be proficient in the use of android smart devices such as Samsung Tablet or phone
  • Good communication and personal skills 
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate data
  • Willing to accomplish each day’s work by the end of each working day
  • Excellent command of the Twi language

Qualifications 
A minimum of bachelor’s degree or HND holder
